Why do websites not use passkey to create accounts?

Creating account with usernames, emails and password is always super insecure as it can be hacked and you can be tricked into give up your password. Multifactor authentication, like a text message , or an Authenticator app with 6 magic numbers was added, but not all websites does this and it too can be hacked.

Passkey solves this in same way as how web traffic is encrypted. You could create accounts with passkey only and they would be secure almost unshakable by default.

This is different than adding passkey after the account is created as you then still have emails and text messages that can be hacked.

So why are nobody allowing account creation just with passkeys?

Did navigation get overly chatty with a new personality?

I find that in-car navigation seems waayyy more chatty with instructions and repeats that gives no actual new info, just interrupting music and everything else playing over the car audio.

The chatter of Apple Maps was my reason for using Google on my iPhone, but now it seems equally overly chatty.

I don’t see an option for chattyness level, but maybe it exists? I would love short, terse instructions as opposed to just turning off instructions entirely.

Kobalt sprayer problems.

A few years back I got a sprayer to use for weed and bug control, and it was working great for about 2 years. Then the pump stopped actually pumping, where you could hear the motor coming on but it not actually pumping any liquid.

Didn’t have the receipt so got a second one, assuming I was just unlucky, and now two years later, exact same problem.

I clean out the sprayer after each use, running a tank full of clean water through it, before storing it. It stored indoor so weather and elements should be a factor. Using it about every 3 to 6 month.

Is this a common problem others have? Is there a way to fix or prevent? It this product just to be avoided?

EDIT: I got it to work again by first dropping oil in the tube outlet so it could reach to pump rotor, and then wet the intake before using it, and it slowly came back to life.

I think priming the pump with a few drops of oil after storage may be the way to go.

I never realized my internet service was upgraded to 1Gbit (DECO is shit)

I got a XE75 mesh system to cover my house. For reasons too long to discuss the previous owner cut all the backhaul cables, so im using over-the-air backhaul.

I never looked at my ISP page (Spectrum) because generally I had no reason to, but something happened with the payment and I had to set it up again. As I then went trough the account page, I realized that they had given me 1Gbit service, not that I've ever asked for it as it was super expensive when I first signed up, so 300 was good enough for what I needed, but hey now I have 1G for the same price.

So I immidiately run a speed test, and yeahhhh...... I got 40 mbit/s. Weird. So I get curious, go and unplug everything and just plug my mac book into the cable-model, and run the speedtest again ... wow 950Mbit... so the link is certainly working.

Net step, find the old wifi ap that specrum had provided, plug that in and connect to wifi... wow speed test runs something like 800mbit/s ... so it's not a wifi problem with my laptop or iphone.

The I plug in the deco, and before all the satelite stations reconnect I run a speed test again, and yes .. it give 800Mbit-ish speeds, and then speed suddenly drops to 40Mbits as satelite stations connect in.. so very very bad.

So thinking a bit, and it clearly surely must be something to do with the wifi backhaul, so I just for test plug my laptop into the gateway deco and switches off my wifi on the laptop... so now we should surely get 800Mbit on a wired connection ..... but NOOOOO the wite connection is now also 40Mbit.

I have all the latest firmware, but this Deco shit is bad.

Anybody know a solution that does not include rewite my home. Like do anybody know if you can just flash the deco's with openwrt where this would surely work correctly ?

EDIT: turning off QOS makes a huge difference. I can now push 500+mbis instead of 40.

Can you still emergency break a car?

A million years ago when I first learned to drive, the cars had a clutch, stick gear and a hand break. The hand break would be next to the stick shift and it was primary intended for parking, but as part of the lessons was you needed to use it for emergency breaking should everything else fail. It was an independent system from the hydraulic breaks and only worked on the rear wheels, do part of the driving classes was on how to gradually engage and release the hand break to stop and not skid.

Fast forward to today, cars don’t have a hand break, but they do have a button for parking breaks.

I guess pushing the button doing 70mph won’t have the desired effect, so what would you need to do to emergency stop a car with break failure?
