Weighing Question

Forgive me for sounding stupid, but I just want to double check. If I weigh a cup with my gecko in it and then once again without the gecko and then subtract I should get an approximate weight? I tried to TARE the cup but she just didn’t want to stay still enough for me to get her in the cup and then stay in it lol. Figure instead of frantically trying to handle her a lot to position her right just quickly get her in the cup with a closed lid

Geckopia Perches?

Anyone use the geckopia flex bridges. Was thinking of trying one out or one similar to it or one of those wider cork bridges.

Trying to stick with a more natural look but keep seeing ads for them so if they work well figured I might as well try it

Food monitoring questions

Might seem like a silly question but, just got a new gecko and I know they can sometimes not eat the first week or even 2. so far haven’t seen any tongue marks except one tail drag through 😅

I’ve noticed her just hanging out by the bowls at night though but come morning if didn’t appear to have been touched. Last night I did weigh out the dishes just to see and one dish started at .97 oz and this morning is .90oz. Didn’t have time do the others yet. The main question is the weight difference because she ate or the liquid evaporated from the dish as I noticed the food is less liquidy now in its consistency.

Also, I did try and feed her some crickets. How do we feel about freshly dead crickets. 3 were definitely not moving when I added them to the bowl, one was but had no jumping back legs so this morning only made it to the powdered mix before it got stuck. Safe to assume she ate the other 3? I don’t see any calcium trail indicating they left the bowl

Would also like to try dubia roaches as I heard their own a similar nutritional value as crickets

Appropriate UVB Bulb?

Im using a light fixture and uvb bulb my friend had an extra of and from what Ive been reading this would be okay? Most people use the longer tube ones so I’m just checking if this will be okay for bow and the distant future if I need to reconsider and get a tube bulb shape instead.

Making Life Easy for the Pet Sitter aka my roommate

how to make it easier for my roommate to take care of my gecko while I’m gone?

quick context: I’ll be going on a week long camping trip a little less than two weeks from now. I got my new crestie on the 28th.

My local pet store does pet boarding, and I know them well and they are very trusted. She’d have proper light/heating but smaller space and less “clutter” coverage and since I just got her was thinking maybe it’s just simpler to have her stay in her new home and not stress her out.

Now my roommate has taken care of my fish and axolotl & newts. But never a lizard. The lights are on a timer, there is a thermostat on the che. So all she would have to do is mist and replace food in the evening. I heard you can pre-prepare Pangea food in the fridge for seven days. So if I mix cups up before I go and could literally just label them so she can replace them. She hates bugs so the crestie will just have to go without for the 6 days we’d be gone. I haven’t yet seen evidence shes liking her food so I’m hoping by the time I leave shell be at least eating okay.

I’ve started getting her used to being held and I’d assume the 6 days of no interaction wouldnt put our progress to far back either.

I guess I’m just looking for advice/experience/comments to help me better make a decision, thank you

New Baby

Got this girl today, the seller was pretty sure she’s a female. 11.6 grams around 7months old. I did forget to ask what morph she was exactly.

currently just getting used to her new set up and hiding on/near the floor in the back with a open and closing of her mouth, but I assume that Is like a stress response from the move?

Night time temperature advice

looking for advice to help bring down the temperature slightly at night. I won’t be home for a week so trying to figure out the best options. I have someone to come in and feed but temp will be more difficult to keep an eye on cause of her schedule.

I have a CHE plugged into a Zilla thermostat should I just plug that thermostat into a on and off timer? Or if someone has a thermostat brand they trust to be plugged into a strip that does night and day separate temps in one? my Living room is set to stay between 69 And 72 right now

Curious what people’s favorite morphs are?

Have been out of the crested gecko game for a while, curious what are the most popular or people’s personal favorite morphs these days. Back when I was in elementary school for me it was Dalmatians but now I can’t decide 😅

Sewing Covert Elastics

I’ve used the regular elastics for pointe shoes but the place I usually buy from only had the covert style. What is peoples experience with seeing them on? Pretty similar to regular elastics even with the holes? just wondering if I need to consider anything different when I sew them or if I can just do my usual way. Thank you.

Charging to 100%?

I keep forgetting to take my ring off before it reaches 100, last night I fell asleep and it stayed on the charger all night. I heard it degrades the battery if you keep charging it to 100 but like how bad is it really? and have people really recognized a difference between how fast the battery goes done when charging to 100. I do try and recharge it around the 30% mark

half the time his paws are oriented normally when he sits like this the other times his right paw is completely side ways. No injuries or sensitivity in the paw, I guess he just likes to place it that way or is it’s his actual bone structure or something?
