I've been living in Spain for a while now and I work in private health insurance, specifically helping expats get covered in a way that actually holds up for visas and residency renewals.
I'm posting this because I see the same questions come up here all the time, and honestly the information out there is all over the place.
So let me just say it plainly: not all health insurance policies are accepted for Spanish visa purposes. It doesn't matter if the policy looks legit or came up first on Google. Spanish immigration has specific requirements, no co-payments, minimum coverage levels, the insurer needs to be properly authorised to operate here, and a lot of expats only find this out at renewal time when it's already stressful.
I'm not here to sell you anything right now. I just genuinely like this community and I'd rather people know this stuff upfront than scramble later.
