This is a new feature in Lightroom CC that was offered to me as a beta test today. Safe to say I didn't have extremely high expectations for it, but I would advise against using it completely.

It uses Nano Banana, and it seems to change text and elements even when advised not to. I used the 4k model and the default "Sky replacement" template prompt.

Prompt: (Sky replacement template)

The sky, wherever it appears in the composition: replace it with a new sky that best complements the scene's existing lighting, time of day, and mood. Preserve the foreground and all non-sky subjects, horizon line(s), composition, and existing lighting direction on the ground -- do not relight or recolor any non-sky elements. Match the color temperature and light direction of the new sky to the ambient lighting already present in the scene. Change moderately. No added objects, no altered subject identity, no text or artifacts, no changes to foreground exposure or contrast.

Prediction for Birds 10Y merch + songs?

Since we're a bit over a week away from the 10 year anniversary of Birds, do you guys think he'll release any songs (vinyl or digital) for the anniversary? Really hoping for Blame/The Curse or SDP!

Also do you have any predictions for cool merch or do you think it'll just be a few shirts and vinyl?

Dystopia concepts/ideas?

I'm trying to custom cut a 7" record (7 min/side) based on DYSTOPIA (incl. ESCAPE PLAN & MAFIA) with one or two other tracks, and I was looking for ideas!

Too much? After/before

I have a few questions

  1. Did I do well with the crop
  2. Is the wall too saturated/warm?
  3. Is the grass and sky overdone? or do they feel okay? I’m considering leaving the grass and making the sky a bit less teal

▲ 15 r/steak

First reverse sear, how did I do?

Used some decently heavy maybe ~10oz filet mignons here.

I put them in the oven at about 225, my oven has 200 and 250 so I guess it was going at 250, but it was running decently hot and got between 245-270ish. I pulled at 115 internal on the largest steak (only one wireless probe) and they went up to about 120. Unfortunately I was cooking some ceviche and was having issues with it marinating correctly, so I let the steaks rest for like 10 minutes before searing on cast iron which didn’t help a ton. Seared until about 125 jnternal and they came up to 136 off the heat.

I think next time I need to rest for only a few minutes if at all and season very very generously with salt to get a great crust and to sear them better. I ended up searing for like 3 min partially to get the temp up, so maybe I can hold them in the oven. I didn’t feel that the crust was overdone or anything so maybe that’s just what it takes

Thoughts? Some simple steamed broccoli and carrots with garlic and butter and some mashed potatoes too! Also served with some ceviche beforehand

Recommendations for cookbooks?

Hi, I am recently getting back into cooking, and I wanted a recommendation for a really specific cookbook. I want to buy one that has more intentional, put together recipes, while still being accessible to the average person, both in ingredients and kitchen tools.

Something like The French Laundry cookbook is too complicated for me, but something like Ottolenghi Simple is a bit too simple, I want to put together some really nicely presented dishes without having to buy expensive or rare ingredients and recipes that use common kitchen tools basically. I was looking at Bouchon, I think something a bit simpler than that would be optimal.

I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations! I know it's really specific but I want something more than a basic cookbook for everyday recipes when I want to make something really nice without an insane amount of complexity.

Thanks!

After/Before

Quite proud of this! While the color grading is fairly aggressive and dark, I created one of my favorite presets ever through this image. I usually struggle with picking colors for color grading so I'm glad I'm getting better at that.

I'm not sure if I should boost the shadows a bit more, I think you can still see enough detail but let me know!

My first sucessful Duna mission! Thanks Matt!

I can never seem to design a craft that can actually land and make it back to Duna - I usually stick to the Mun and Minmus, so it was super fun to actually be able to go there and return! Apart from a few mistakes, one of which if you can see on the second to last screenshot I managed to radially attatch like 4 shielded docking ports, everything went great!

Faygo/Sahbabii before the show

What do they play before Don gets on stage? I’m going to his Oakland show and I wanted to hear how that works bc people have been saying different things

Fun Fact: Google Maps still shows the wall of speakers used in the CIRCUS MAXIMUS film in an ampitheater in Pompeii

Introducting the SASSTO: Slightly Assisted Single Stage to Orbit

Close enough to an SSTO, no?

Features 2 RAPIER engines, 4 FLEA SRBs for initial takeoff speed, and 2 kickback SRBs to help with takeoff. After the SRBs fire and cleanly seperate, you only need to burn for ~1 min on closed cycle mode.

Gets to 100km orbit and back to KSC pretty easily, I enter prograde and basically just do a spinny 15g manuever to slow down over the KSP. Because it can be almost impossible to recover from the resulting spin, there are 2 sets of drogues that will point you straight down so you can speed up and level out.
