Instantly permabanned and modmuted from big sub out of the blue, apparently without legitimate reason - what can/should a user do in such a case to defend against arbitrary mod action?
Hello. I hope this is the right place to post such questions, if not, please redirect me to the proper channel/sub. Already tried other subs, but all seem to avoid discussions on user bans in general. All I seek is some sound advice so I can claim my rights as a Reddit user properly.
So the caption says it all. I made a completely legit post in a big and very specific image sub, as requested it was my own OC, and I even also put a comment with second picture to prove it was my OC, as the rules explicitly forbid the usage of forged material and my picture was so distinct that it may have risen such a suspicion. The post was initially received very well with many upvotes and comments, it is exactly what the channel sports. Then the next day I found an unknown moderator had during the night permabanned and modmuted me out of the blue, all at once, without any discussion - pointing at my prove comment which I thought was appropriate to fulfill the channel rules, and not to break them. I wasn't given any explanation for it, just generally that I'd break the rules with that comment. I could not see which rule I had broken, at all, neither from the explanation nor from my own comment.
So this is very sad for me, I liked the channel very much and wanted to participate regularly, even did that already before that point. What can I do now to gain backing of my rights, or even try to somehow make this visible or discussed? I mean I was given no obvious reason for the ban, but I have a suspicion that it may be a discrimination due to my religious views. If this is not, it must be something weird or a misunderstanding - I don't understand why it happened, at all.
So I had reported this incident to Reddit (like 10 days ago), got no reply. I had used the wrong reason I guess, and now reported it again to Reddit with proper reason (2 - intransparent rules, "Set and Manage Reasonable Expectations", as I could not expect being banned without return from what I was told before).
Is reporting it to Reddit all I can do, and if yes, how long do I have to wait for any response or decision on it? I guess it can take weeks/months, right?
And I mean it is pretty arbitrary behavior from the mods - is there even a chance to gain any rights over this case, or are such decisions generally in the hands of the mods and they have free play in this? What else could/should I do to clear up this misunderstanding somehow in a graceful way? I feel such discussion about subreddit bans is generally not really wanted in most places of Reddit - are there specific places inside or outside of Reddit, where such a thing could be discussed?
Thanks for all answers and suggestions about this!
