Finally put out a public announcement trailer. Is it easy to understand?

I updated my trailer yesterday and finally put it out publicly on YouTube, but based on suggestions, I took off almost all text elements and descriptions and left my Steam Page with this version which has minimal text. Does it make sense? It's supposed to be a tag team Metroidvania.

What Type of Grounded Dashes Are Your Favorite in Metroidvanias?

I'm deciding between different dashes in my game and I think I like option C the most. It seems the most fun since movement can get crazy with it. It genuinely feels fun and I think that's the point of the dash and movement in general.

I still want to hear what your favorite kind of dashes are though to see if I can implement stuff! Even if it's for future upgrades or upgrade combos

I hit the funny number

Maybe I should celebrate? 😂😂 Nah, jk. Actually, I'm very happy with this. Hopefully I can hit 1,000 wishlists before I release my demo next year 😁

All the Metroid merch things I was able to get at the Nintendo store in NYC

I wish I could have gotten the few other things they had like the plush arm cannon, but this is what the budget allowed for T_T next time though!

Also, yes, the case does close with the switch 2 and pro controller in it, although it's a tight fit. The thumbsticks definitely press in when you zip up the case.

I implemented your feedback!

I'm still refining things and implementing feedback that I've received, but here are just a few things I touched up on recently. Thanks to everyone who comments and provides ideas and critiques!

Need some advice on how to get a little closer to this style

I really like the Tekken 4 art style. Its vibe, the aesthetic and atmosphere... So I tried imitating it. This my first attempt and it is a big departure from what I normally draw (more anime, almost HADES-like).

Any advice as to how to improve it? I'm not trying to 1 to 1, but get a little closer at least.

Imitating the Tekken 4 art style

Tekken 4 is my favorite in the franchise for its aesthetic and atmosphere. This is a big departure from how I normally draw, but I wanted to try to imitate its style.

First pic is supposed to be Reina and the second is supposed to be Lidia, but I decided to give her glasses lol

How to improve underwater combat/movement

So I'm working on the underwater aspect of my game that happens when the player unlocks the swimsuits.

This is still pretty early, and I'm hoping to add a lot more special effects to sell the look of being underwater, and also fine-tuning some of the speed of movement. Part of me is still a little unsatisfied with it though, and I don't know if that's just me being hypercritical of myself.

I'm looking for suggestions on how to improve the combat though, so if anyone has any references or ideas they'd like to share that would be great!

A PSA For All Devs!

I know we are all working on our dream games or whatever, but this is a reminder to please, PLEASE take care of your health!

We are our own one-person army and our biggest asset! We need to make sure we take care of ourselves. So go for walks dammit! Take breaks, and for the love of God, get some proper rest!

Last year I went to Japan with my wife, and it was a huge motivating factor for me to get healthier. It took like 4 months, but I lost 30lbs, and man, I feel so much better in every aspect--emotionally, mentally, physically. I can focus better, I have more energy, and no joke, I feel like I can problem solve better too.

Don't burn yourself out trying to make your game. If you take care of yourself, not only will your health improve, but you will also get to enjoy game development more too!

When introducing a new power-up, I want players to immediately understand how to use it, but I'm torn on the best way to show that.

Option A — Chibi pixel art showing the move (how it is currently)

Option 2 — A short clip of the ability in action (got this idea from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It's effective, but less personality)

Option 3 — Both together (I'm worried it might be too cluttered)

What looks better you guys think? Would love to hear what the community thinks before I commit!

Hey everyone! I made my steam page public almost two months ago. This is my first game ever and as such, my first steam page.

Phaze Shift on Steam

I did my best to research and study things before making it, and I think it's doing okay? I'm not sure. I don't have a demo or anything yet, and I have no prior following. I've garnered 303 wishlists and 2,652 visits (when you remove bots). I've made 16,080 impressions... And a click thru rate of 16.5%. I don't know if this is average, good or bad, so I could use some perspective.

What concerns me a lot too are these numbers:

It looks like these are really low, but I don't know if this is normal or not (also, my game is not free to play. I don't know why it keeps showing up there). Maybe my capsule is bad? I want to improve the page and capsule where i can, maybe It can reach more people.

I'm open to all advice!

The Snake can turn into a drill and burrow in and out of the ground. At moment's it will go into high-speed where the snake will move twice as fast. The armor/skin comes off and act as enemies the player can hit to recover HP/SP.

The track used is a remix from Megaman Battle Network 4! That series is a big inspiration for the game.

I did this for them during a slow day at work. These are all characters from games they played based on my recommendations. They really liked the Battle Network games and Breath of the Wild lol

(Tried uploading again because it didn't upload the colored photo for whatever reason)
