Outlander in Concert tickets still available

I'm headed to the Warner Theater in Washington DC on Sunday, October 4, for Outlander In Concert: Echoes Through the Highlands. I bought my tickets months ago, and I was surprised to see that lots of good seats are still available. What gives? Anyway, if you're a fan and you're in the area...

Newish to Alamo

I hadn't been to movie theaters much since COVID, but there has been enough good stuff coming out lately that I've started going back regularly. I gotta say the Alamo Drafthouse feels civilized and grown up. It's clean, calm, and the whole experience has been enjoyable.

I see some longtime fans saying the food's gone downhill or complaining about other changes, but from a newbie perspective, I'm pretty happy.

In the meantime, I also saw the Odyssey at an AMC. Popcorn was spilled everywhere in the lobby as well as inside the theater, floors were sticky of course, and trash was just laying around. At least the Alamo is doing something right.

ETA: Y'all mentioning other/better theater options but none of those are near me.

Sushi on Columbia Pike

If you were recently mourning the closure of a few sushi places in the area...

I can heartily recommend checking out the new MoMoGoGo in Penrose Square. The previous restaurants in this location haven't had much luck, so I hope that's about to change.

MoMoGoGo has delicious food, with all you can eat right at your table for a decent price if you're hungry. A la carte also available.

We showed up without a reservation and sat at the few seats at the sushi bar. So I guess reservations are recommended.

My electricity went out twice today

My electricity went out this morning around 6 a.m. and came back on around 9 a.m. It went out again at 5:30 p.m. There is no storm, and the weather is warm but not terribly hot. I work from home and was able to do all my work today.

This friendly little app is helping me get my shit together where years of therapy and medication hasn't. I don't even know how to explain it. Maybe the timing was just right? I recently downloaded another app that was advertising heavily on Reddit, but that did nothing for me. I wasn't even looking when I accidentally ran into Finch and decided to try it out.

In only two weeks, I am taking better care of myself, focusing on getting healthier, and generally taking care of THINGS.

I'm overcoming an irrational wall that has been holding me back from taking care of some very necessary things in my life. The kind of things that grew more ominous and scary with time, and they became so difficult to face that I tried to ignore them. And that just made them even worse and more scary.

I'll also admit to brainstorming with Claude AI. This isn't a plug or a recommendation, and I'm fully aware of its limitations. Claude has been like an extra buddy to help me break things down into achievable daily goals, and it hypes me up for the next steps.

So I'm finally tackling life, and it's like a thousand pound weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I suddenly feel optimistic that depression won't keep me down forever.
