What paint do you recommend for masks?

I'm going to be trying to make my first therian mask soon and was wondering what the best paint for the job is. Fabric paint? Acrylic? That multi-surface craft paint? I currently have acrylic gouache that I think will work, but it's pretty nice expensive paint so I only want to use it if I know it will work and it won't be going to waste.

Anyone else feel like they were meant to be something in between?

I always feel a deep sense of connection and kinship to blue heelers, but I don't always feel like I am one fully. I always feel euphoria wearing ears and a tail, and experience phantom sensations of my ears perking up and my tail wagging or bumping into things even when I'm not wearing one. I also feel a desire to herd things, and am drawn to cows and sheep. But often I feel like I was meant to be an inumimi/dogboy more than an actual dog. I like my human life and being a very doglike human. I just wish I could express the dog side of my identity more and have it be socially acceptable, and I feel a deep frustration that I can't express my emotions with my ears and tail because that just seems so much more natural to me than human facial expressions and body language.

Tales from the Melbourne Zoo

(Edit: I want to make it clear that I found these events to be the cute kind of stupid. I'm not genuinely judging any of these kids, I just found it funny and thought this sub would appreciate these stories.) About a year ago I was in Melbourne, Victoria Australia and was determined to see a platypus before I went back to the US, so I went to the zoo (as an adult, by myself.) Two things I witnessed there have stuck in my head ever since.

  1. Kid points at a toucan (edit: a commenter pointed out it was probably a macaw since the Melbourne Zoo doesn't have toucans. For some reason I remembered it as a toucan) on a sign and very excitedly shouts "A COCKATOO!!!" Anywhere else in the world it would be like aww, cute mistake. But this is Australia. Cockatoos are everywhere. Chances are good the kid saw one on the way to the zoo. I had seen several just that morning.

  2. There was a habitat that I guess was under renovation and didn't have an animal in it. I saw an ibis, aka a bin chicken (a common bird known for eating out of the trash,) fly down and perch on a branch in the middle of the habitat. I proceeded to watch several families walk by, and without fail the kids would get super hyped about the "bin chicken exhibit" and want to stay and watch it.

When to worry about overlay?

This is my first time growing ochras. I'm using an all-in-one bag, which I know isn't the most ideal way to grow mushrooms, but it's what I have room for. I introduced fruiting conditions this past Monday, and so far I have a thick and fluffy layer of mycelium on the top, which I didn't see when I grew cubes. I've heard this is fairly normal for ochras, but I wanted to know how to tell if it's become a problem and what to do if it does.

Is it time to break and shake? I feel like I've seen conflicting information.

I've got this healthy-looking mycelium covering almost the whole bottom of my all-in-one bag and starting to come up the sides. It also seems to be reaching the substrate in some places. Do I break and shake, and do I mix the grains with the substrate? The information I've found on breaking and shaking in general has been inconsistent.

When can I expect to see mycelium from spores?

First time growing, I inoculated an all-in-one grow bag with Golden Teacher spores and am just curious about how long it will take for mycelium to start showing up (I'm not worried that it hasn't shown up since it's only been a few days, I just like knowing things). I've heard that Golden Teachers take 4-6 weeks from inoculation to first harvest, but I don't know if that timeline is for spores or liquid culture.
