Had a boo boo. Now like new new.

$9,000 in repairs.

Insurance covered. Not at fault.

Holy crap. Can’t believe this. No bands I love ever come through here nor did I ever think it would be someone like Converge. Do they have a fanbase here?

Is there much of a hardcore/indie scene here?

CAKE @the State Fair has been sold out for awhile now. What’s the best/cheapest way to look for second hand tickets?

My local MINI service center quoted me $600 for rear brake pads and sensors. Can I go somewhere else?

2023 Countryman S All4. 29,000 miles. Brake pad warning just popped up yesterday. I was expecting it to be around $100-250 per axle. Can I go to a different shop?

Is the price of Red Boat fish sauce really worth it or just marketing? I’ve rarely seen it used in recipes/videos. Three Crabs tends to be the go to.

Edit: I should clarify. More for a dipping sauce like Nước chấm where it’s the star of the show. Not an addition to pasta sauce for extra umami.

Edit 2: Thoughts on Dragonfly brand (anything)

TL;DR: A good fish sauce should be treated like a good extra virgin olive oil

My AC has all of a sudden stopped blowing out of the 4 main dashboard vents. It still blows out of everywhere else and it’s still cold. No matter what the AC settings are (auto, max, vent options)

What gives, my fellow minions?

I’ve always poured my brine over the ingredients in the jar while still hot. I see a lot of people say they let it cool first. What’s the difference between the two methods?

This Tuscan melon I got from Fred Meyers/Kroger on sale for $2 is the best cantaloupe I’ve ever had. SO sweet, soft and juicy

I picked out a honey dew that’s not great. It’s not sweet at all. What are some things I can do with it that’s not eating it straight?

I’m looking to do pickled shrimp. Every recipe I’ve seen says to add a small amount of oil. What’s the reason for this? What does it do? Can it be omitted?

This is what most recipes look like…

2 lbs peeled & deveined large gulf shrimp (tail on or off), cooked 2 lemons 1 small vidalia or other sweet onion, sliced thinly ⅔ C olive oil ⅓ C white wine vinegar 1 tablespoon Creole seasoning 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon minced garlic 1 teaspoon granulated sugar ½ teaspoon mustard seeds ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes ½ teaspoon dried parsley 4 bay leaves splash Worcestershire sauce

Why is a sweeter brine usually used for pickled watermelon rinds? Does a savory brine not work well with them?
