The Ibanez AR 300

This guitar came through my house for a setup and cleaning, and it feels and sounds amazing. I played it for about an hour after I was done setting it up, and I went through all the tones I had set up on my little Vox VT40X. I'm kind of sad I have to give it back. Is it just this one, or are they all this nice?

SG Standard all set up

I love working on and fixing guitars as much as playing them. I have my new SG Standard set up, dialed in, and loving it. That silver mist is shiny and crazy with the grain showing through. A lot different than my other guitars all around.

NGD: SG Standard Silver Mist 2026

I thought it was a 61 yesterday but found out I was wrong when I went to pick it up. All that mattered is it feels and sounds good.

SG Standard Silver Mist 60s OCD

I had an Epiphone SG Futura ordered at my local store. Since I ordered it, I've played the non Futura ones they had on the wall and was uninspired. Yesterday they had a Gibson SG Standard in Silver Mist and I fell in love playing it but with the other one coming in I could not swing it. After 24 hours I called them and they said they would just sell the other one and put my payment towards the Silver Mist 60s. Picking it up tomorrow. Still need a Gibson V and Firebird to round out the collection.

Is my boy copying my injury?

I need a hip replacement, so I've been walking with a limp and a cane. For the past week, I have seen my Labradane limping around the house at random times. Morning walk, no limp. Evening in the backyard, no limp. Him following me to another room or changing positions around the house, he limps. The thing is, I think this happened before when I hurt a knee. The vet found nothing wrong with him.

My Three Gibson Les Pauls

The 2026 Studio Session in Cobalt Burst, the 2024 Special in Vintage Cherry, and the 2026 Standard 60s in Iced Tea Burst. The stands have been modified to be nitro safe.

Les Paul Standard 60s Iced Tea Burst

Finished the initial setup on my new 2026 Les Paul Standard 60s tonight. It came setup very well overall, similar to my Studio Session. I only had a few small things: the second fret was a touch high, the G string needed a slight intonation shift toward the bridge, and I lowered the action just a hair to where I like it. It has a comfortable and natural feel that lets my hands flow over the strings, and it’s the best‑feeling guitar in my hands. But I knew that after playing it at the shop.

Best gift ever!

My wife was at the Gibson Garage recently. I posted a pic of the goodie bag that included a leather Trubador strap. Well today I showed her the 2026 Gibson Les Paul Standard Iced Tea Burst I bought to match the strap. Most people here know I bought it 2 months ago, but time is relative.

Gibson Father's Day

My wife went to Nashville for a conference, and the people at The Gibson Garage helped pick out my Father's Day gifts! The coasters and pick tray are made from wood reclaimed from the making of the guitars.

Dialed In the Studio Session

Besides lowering the action a touch, lowering the right side of the bridge humbucker a turn, and two strings needing minor intonation adjustments, this one came set up nearly perfectly. It probably was before it shipped. Everything is polished, oiled, and tuned. I usually keep my better guitars in the case, but I might put this one on a wall for a while.

My 3rd (and final) Les Paul

Edit: Final Les Paul. Not final guitar. I never said final guitar. A lot of people reading the title the wrong way.

While I was playing this in the guitar shop so long they took the tag off it and got it ready for me. They know me, but I told them this is the last Gibson Les Paul. The Iced Tea Burst is a great finish. The 60's pickups round out my special and Studio Sessions. It's funny that for 30+ years I never was interested in Gibson or Les Paul and now they are all I want to play.

Looking for info on this Guilford Electric Sitar

A friend of mine asked me to look at a guitar he owns, but I was not expecting this. It looks a lot like a Danelectro, but the headstock says Guilford. Anyone know what year this could have been made? He said he bought it off someone over 20 years ago.

Pre-ordered Futuras!

Found out my local guitar shop can pre-order anything Gibson for me. I won't get them until November, but I pre-ordered the Midnight Ember Shift SG and Solaris Shift Flying V from the Futura collection. I was there looking at and playing other SGs when I overheard someone reserve a different SG. My wife is giving me nice gifts for the holidays this year. 😁

Out without my main camera, but the results have me rethinking having an expensive camera for the first time since my S23U. Expert Raw.

These were much better than I expected when editing in Lightroom Mobile.

Edit: Obviously, these look a lot better that they do on Reddit.

It started as a truss rod adjustment.

I love the Sheraton, but after getting a couple of others tuned up, I really noticed the relief was excessive. That was all I was going to do, but then I remembered that I should let the neck sit a little while after each adjustment, so out came the detailing kit and setup tools. I am going to let it sit a day and check the relief to see if the wood tried to bend back. I might change the strings on this one sooner rather than later. They feel heavier than the stock 10s.

Riviera fully detailed and set up

After doing the same for my Epiphone ES-335 not long ago, I decided to do the Riviera tonight. Nothing feels better than playing a fully cleaned and polished guitar set to the action I like.

NGLAD - New Gear Layaway Day!

I went to the guitar store to try out a beautiful 2014 Gibson ES-335. After playing it, I was walking around thinking if I need another 335 and noticed this on the wall. They had just gotten it in, and my fingerprints are the only ones on it. So, it is on layaway to get it off the wall while I come up with the rest of the funds. I cannot wait to play the Studio Session at home. According to the serial, it was just made on April 10th.

ES-335 Maintenance Day - Very Shiny

Now that my collection is finally where I want it and I’m playing almost every day, I’ve been watching a ton of guitar videos on YouTube. MusicNomad’s cleaning and maintenence products kept popping up everywhere, so I figured I’d grab the whole lineup and try them out.

I started with the ES‑335 since it’s been with me the longest, and I was shocked at how much grime came off the frets. They needed three full passes. While I was up close, I noticed the bottom fret has a bunch of tiny chips and dents — nothing serious, and it’s still level, but it definitely made me realize I should start inspecting everything more closely before bringing a guitar home.

The fretboard soaked up the first coat of oil, so I put on a second coat to keep it looking rich and darker. Under good lighting, every fingerprint and smudge from the store was suddenly very visible and everywhere. The pickups had something odd on them too, but a few minutes with a microfiber cloth took care of it.

Once everything was cleaned, polished, and lubricated, I tuned it up, stretched the strings, tuned again, and lowered the action just a hair. Only the A string needed a touch of intonation. By the time I stepped back, I remembered how much I genuinely enjoy working on guitars just as much as playing them. There’s something really satisfying about bringing one back to its best. It felt so good to play I was on it for at least an hour.

3 way toggle question

I noticed my toggle goes to center easily. Almost like it is on a spring a little. It is not an issue, but is that normal for a 2024 Les Paul Standard? Still breaking it in from the guitar shop and loving it!
