Honestly, after reviewing a few cold outreach and closing scripts over the past 24 hours, I’ve realised something.

I don’t actually think closing itself is where I’d be best utilised.

Could I do it? Probably. I’m soft spoken, articulate, commercially minded and I understand people well.

But what stood out to me almost immediately was how many of these scripts are actually hurting conversions before the closer even has a chance!

Some of them feel too robotic, pushy or over-rehearsed. And a lot of the objection handling is really quite bad.

Prospects want to feel reassured, understood and safe speaking to you, not pressured into something. The second someone feels their concerns are being brushed off or “handled” instead of genuinely understood, trust gaps start forming immediately.

I think I’m far more interested in reviewing:

- outreach systems

- scripts

- call recordings

- conversational flow

- where trust starts breaking down

- why prospects mentally check out

As a business owner myself, I’ve taken hundreds of these calls over the years marketing agencies, ad agencies, real estate bros, sales teams, consultants, you name it!

So I know exactly what makes prospects mentally recoil during a conversation versus what keeps them engaged, reassured and open to hearing more.

Sometimes the issue isn’t actually the closer at all.

You can go through all the closers you want, but sometimes it’s the psychology and communication behind the call that’s losing the prospect before the closer even has a chance.

Bit of an honest question for people already working in high-ticket/remote sales.

I’ve spent the last 6+ years building and running my own fashion e-commerce brand, which meant years of customer communication, retailer conversations, supplier negotiations, brand positioning, problem-solving and handling people constantly.

I’m from the GCC, grew up in the UK, and am now based in Dubai, so I’ve spent most of my life communicating across different cultures and business environments.

The more I learn about remote and high-ticket sales, the more I genuinely feel I may actually be well suited to it particularly the relationship-building and communication side.

I’m well spoken, bilingual ( English and Arabic) comfortable on calls, emotionally intelligent and naturally quite persuasive when speaking to people one-on-one. I also understand business owners because I’ve been one myself.

What I don’t have is formal “sales closer” experience or a big online sales background.

So I guess my honest question is:

How realistic is it for someone like me to break into this space in their 40s (I'm 43f) if they clearly have transferable skills?

I’m based in the UAE and very open to remote opportunities, conversations or even advice from people already in the industry.

And honestly, I’d have no problem hopping on a call if someone wanted to gauge whether I’d actually be suited to it.

Hi everyone.

I’m 43f and trying to figure out what my next chapter realistically looks like career-wise.

For the last 6 years, I built and ran my own women’s activewear brand from the ground up. I handled everything myself from branding, product development, Shopify, Meta ads, launches, customer service, supplier communication, influencer outreach, logistics, email marketing, creative direction etc.

Before that, I worked as a Senior Executive Assistant, but entrepreneurship was always something I wanted to pursue. The business did well for a period of time and I genuinely loved building it, but like many small brands, the financial pressure eventually became difficult and honestly, my heart just isn't in it like it once was.

I’m bilingual (Arabic and English) grew up in the UK, and have spent years working in fast-paced international environments. I am living in the Gulf. Not US based.

Now I’m at a crossroads. I’m open to employment again, but I’m also considering consulting for small businesses in fashion/e-commerce/startup spaces.

I’d genuinely value outside perspective:

- What roles would someone with my background realistically be suited for?

- Does founder experience actually translate well in today’s job market?

- Is consulting for small businesses / new founders something you think is realistically achievable without already having a huge audience/network?

Would appreciate honest opinions from people who’ve either hired founders or made a similar pivot themselves.

I hate myself. I hate how my life has turned out. I feel no more joy, no more pain, no more of anything. I lost my partner of seven years, I lost my mother to cancer, I lost my business, my car, I'm on the verge of being evicted, my sister just died last week, my business is failing, my hair is falling out from iron deficiency. I just can't take it any more. Every day is like groundhog day. I just need some breathing space. I just need someone to hold me and tell me I can make it.
