2 hours already and power has not been restored in my area, has power been restored by any of you?
Which is the best place to watch the tall ships arrive under the Verrazzano tomorrow? I was thinking Fort Wadsworth or Buono Beach
Here is the flag they hanged on the Verrazzano for the July 4th festivities
The film is about Asia Reeves (Zazie Beetz) who takes a live-in housekeeper job at a mysterious NYC high-rise called “The Virgil” she then uncovers that the high rise is a Satanic cult. I loved this, this film is awesome, good action fight scenes, very fast paced and a whole good amount of gore. I like that we got the backstories of our two main leads in Asia and Isabel. Zazie Beetz as Asia did a very good job in the film and she is the strongest brave character in the film with what she goes through. Patricia Arquette plays Lily Woodhouse who is superintendent of The Virgil and also leader of the cult. You also have Tom Felton as a member of the cult along with Heather Graham. The film is worth a watch.
What are you guys favorite theatrical experiences of seeing a movie in the theater and the reaction of the crowd you were watching it with
Mine are:
The Rugrats Movie (1998): I saw this opening weekend and as a kid I was so excited to see the characters on the big screen.
The Dark Knight (2008): First film I saw in IMAX on the largest screen in my NYC AMC theater. Heath Ledger’s Joker made a big impact on me and the crowd from his amazing performance.
The Avengers (2012): The only film I saw twice in the theater in 3D and it was just amazing, both times the audience applauded at the end.
The Dark Knight Rises (2012): Saw it opening weekend which was the weekend were that idiot James Holmes shot into the crowd in Aurora during the film. I remember being freaked out seeing the film that weekend cause of that news and everyone else in the theater were a little freaked out cause of what happened but saw it without no bad things happening and I and the crowd enjoyed it. I still prefer Dark Knight over this film.
Prisoners (2013): Underrated film, the audience gasped at shocking scenes like when Paul Dano’s character’s face was bruised like crazy and Hugh Jackman busting the bathroom sink saying “Where’s my daughter!!”
Jurassic World (2015): When the T-Rex appeared we all erupted in a thunderous applause.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021): What an experience that was!!
After the death of the eccentric, wheelchair-bound pianist Francis Ingram (Victor Francen), strange events occur, centered around his disembodied left hand, which seems to be seeking revenge for his murder. Just finished watching this on TCM and it’s a good horror mystery film which also in the cast you have Peter Lorre, Andrea King, J. Carrol Nash and Robert Alda. It’s a weird eerie film and this was the first film that got Warner Bros into the horror genre. The effect of the hand looked impressive for its time and gives you a chill when you see it moving. Definitely an underrated film to check out.
Directed by Brian Robbins the film is about a high school football team called the West Canaan Coyotes in a small, football-obsessed Texas town, focusing on backup quarterback Jonathan "Mox" Moxon (James Van Der Beek) as he clashes with his ruthless coach (Jon Voight) after the star QB Lance Harbor (Paul Walker) is injured. Really good enjoyable film it’s a good coming of age story with very likable characters on the football team. James Van Deer Beek is good in his role as Jonathan “Mox” Moxon a guy who is a successful quarterback and is very well liked but he is very dissatisfied with his life and wanting to leave and get out of Texas and go to Brown University, his has a strained relationship with his father Sam (Thomas F. Duffy) who is just obsessed with football. Jon Voight’s character as the coach is just a *sshole to his players and only cares about winning at all costs. Ron Lester as Billy Bob is really good you feel for his character at points in the film cause of him being overweight and Jon Voight’s character putting him down. Good enjoyable film if you all haven’t seen it. RIP to James Van Deer Beek, Ron Lester and Paul Walker.
So this happened today 😂😂😂😂
Really enjoyed this anthology film that was originally supposed to be a TV series but never got picked up. The film has 4 stories, the first called “Terror in Topanga” were it follows a serial killer who killed a patrolman and is terrorizing the town of Topanga. A woman Lisa (Cristina Raines) goes out to the store and literally runs out of gas. A gas attendant lunges at the car with a gas nozzle, breaking the window. He drags Lisa out of the car, then draws a pistol and shoots the actual serial killer. The second story which is my favorite is called “The Bishop of Battle which features Emilio Estevez as J.J. Cooney who is a video game player and hustler who wants to get to the 13 level in the game “The Bishop of Battle”. It doesn’t get any 80s with the arcade games in this chapter. The third story is called “The Benediction” which features Lance Henricksen as Father Frank MacLeod as a guy who loses faith in god and is being chased down by a truck that’s driven by the devil, this is my opinion is the weakest story of the four. The last story is called “Night of the Rat” were a family believes their is a rat in the house but turns out their is a large creature with glowing red eyes living in the crawlspace. Good anthology film if you all haven’t seen it.
I heard there are some warehouses testing this rule of employees out on cart crew going around the lot asking members if they need help with anything at their cars. I think it’s a dumb idea cause I tried asking members if they need help loading this and this into their car and they say “we can handle this”. I think this new rule is another failure on the company.
Got these off of Etsy it’s Christmas Specials recorded from 1986 and 1987 with the original commercials intact. 1986 tape has A Charlie Brown Christmas, Frosty the Snowman recorded from CBS and Mickey’s Christmas Carol recorded from NBC. 1987 tape has A Muppet Family Christmas recorded from ABC and Disney Christmas.
Following several grisly murders, a policeman Lieutenant Vincent D’Agosta (Tom Sizemore) teams up with a biologist Margo Green (Penelope Ann Miller) to find the demonic creature stalking the corridors of the museum. With the museum's gala opening being imminent, they face a race against time to track down the creature before it strikes again. I really enjoyed this film it’s a very intense horror film with the creatures designed by the great Stan Winston, his effects of the creature still hold up to this day. Tom Sizemore is very enjoyable as D’Agosta, Penelope Ann Miller is good in her role playing Margo Green. The film is very dark where mostly scenes in the film are dimly dark but it’s not overly discouraging. Check out the film if you haven’t seen it.
I got put by the bottle recycling machines today I do cart crew and it’s literally hell there, all the people not patiently waiting and ask “oh this needs to be changed” I say I can only change one machine and i’ll get to it. It’s just really draining and our warehouse doesn’t have maintenance change it but anyone that is out on carts. It’s really frustrating.
Schoolteacher and family man Ed Avery (James Mason) has been suffering bouts of severe pain and even blackouts. He becomes dangerously addicted to cortisone, transforming him from a mild-mannered man into a tyrannical, psychotic despot, exploring themes of addiction, the American nuclear family, and the dark side of the "miracle" drug era. Really enjoyed this film James Mason put on a great performance as Ed which we feel bad for his character cause of his illness but when he starts taking the cortisone drug he starts to become an a**hole to his wife and son but at the same time he’s going through all the side effects that the cortisone does to him. James Mason not only starred in the film but also produced it. The film was directed by Nicholas Rey who directed “Rebel Without a Cause” which I also loved and enjoyed. I think this is a very underrated masterpiece of a film.
I know the channel “Roar” is airing classic and more recent episodes of SNL, but last I watched they keep on showing the same episodes over and over at points. Have they showed any fresh new classic episodes if not idk why they don’t show ones we haven’t seen.
Directed by Alan Parker, Bugsy Malone is a spoof of gangster films but with child actors playing in gangster characters. Instead of real guns and ammo, they use "splurge guns" that cover the victim in whipped cream. The story tells of the rise of Bugsy Malone (Scott Baio) and the battle for power between Fat Sam (John Cassisi) and Dandy Dan (Martin Lev). Really loved this film it’s a musical film which really fit the tone of it. When the children sing they are lip syncing while adults are singing for them. Scott Baio plays our main character who is a ex boxer and a scout to find boxers. This came out a year before Baio’s breakout role as Chachi on Happy Days. Jodie Foster plays Tallulah who is Fat Sam’s chanteuse and Bugsy’s old flame. Florrie Dugger is Blousey Brown who is trying to make it into Hollywood and also is the love interest to Bugsy. Fun film and the music is done by the great Paul Williams.
Madonna shot her video for “Papa Don’t Preach” here on the Island.
