This is out in the dessert, over a dune just outside of the airport at the NorthWestern part of the map.
It’s an Easter Egg, not part of the airport. It’s a complete stand alone dome above ground with a fence of spikes and barbed wire 360* around it. No loot, nothing. There is a fortress gate with the Buzzards logo over the door.
I beat the game nearly 100%.
What’s up with the ruins of Thunderdome out in the desert (where else) near the airport? Easter egg or secret mission?
I got a Zorro torch insert stuck in an ‘01 case. It bought that insert because it was gold and used it in a ‘25 round bottom classic brass case without issue. I have some alternate Zippo and Thunderbird inserts that never gave me any trouble. (I prefer butane.)
I tried mixing colors and put that Zorro in the ‘25 and it was tight but I figured “worst case, I’ll have to freeze it,) Well, it slid in past the hinge then click - permanently in place.
I pulled and prodded, broke the top half of the insert off, tried to drill it out and almost went through the case (I forgot how soft brass is; I’m lucky I stopped myself when I did.) I bent the hinge a bit, made no progress on removing the insert and put that dimple on it.
Mailed it on 6/16, got it back today. The note speaks for itself.
I have the original insert but left it sealed, now an interesting story for my collection.

They say the Great Pyramids were made with such precision that it would be difficult to replicate with modern tools. That is what we have here. I think it’s machined rather than lasered but the lid seam looks like it was cut with a lightsaber.
They are numbered but not as a limited series. I got #03959; that stamp could run to 99,999 if they wanted. Still, it adds some authenticity.
I got a retro deluxe brass insert with the tamp and o-rings and replaced the wick with a Zippo one. It’s as airtight as can be. It emits no odor and lasts for weeks.
The standard insert it came with holds up pretty well too. I don’t know if the o-ring in the lid actually touches the sides; it’s arguable, but given the precision on the rest, I’ll bet it does. The height of the deluxe insert is so precise that at first the lid hit it and I thought it would’t fit but it was the flint screw needing half a twist more. About .01mm in height made the difference between “won’t close at all” and a perfect fit.
With the deluxe insert, it weighs 235g; 0.52 lbs. I had to experience it. It’s impractical to carry and serves as a table lighter, so it’s important that the fuel doesn’t evaporate in a week.
Ironically, the standard insert actually performs better. It gets some vapor trapped in the lid and lights with the slightest spark; you barely have to touch the wheel, like advancing a clock an hour. However, I prefer the overly complicated deluxe one as the point with this lighter was to go all out with the options and weight. It’s almost farcical and I love it.
I just completed the rocket silo. I don’t remember getting the mission or how it ties into the story. What is it, a timed loot grab? There wasn’t that much stuff in there and I burned a lot of ammo. I didn’t get any reward and if there was money, I missed the pop up.
That’s a rhetorical question. I thought it was 2000s based on the vehicles and tech but I was just in the garage and the ATVs are as recent as 2018.

What does it indicate when an enemy is flashing gold? It seems to be that they downed you or a GFH. I think it’s death related. I’ve played four times; I more often kill myself, so hard to tell. Seems to happen more when I use more GFH. Is there a revenge mechanic?

You can fly the camera around to explore and it won’t clip through walls. It is restricted by the same collisions as max but not gravity and moves faster than Max. Because it doesn’t clip, you can only explore “the path.” You can’t fly through doors but you can often go over them. You can take shortcuts, moving vertically up and down shafts an pan around building from the outside, looking for doors, cat walks, zip lines, Scotty’s Insignias. Sometimes, mission objectives and the boss areas are clearly visible.
This is incredibly useful when lost inside an enemy base or backtracking looking for missed loot.
I have a can of Neon 7x which won’t fill anything. Zippo torch, Zippo butane, Thunderbird butane, various “disposable” refillables.
I tried all the adaptors, and all the adaptors from another brand’s can too, all too big. The gas won’t go in; it sprays everywhere. It should fill all my lighters right off the can. They are all the same standard.
I get $1.50 cans of Crocs at the Dollar store checkout and it flows right in to all of them - the clear ones you can see it going in as a stream of liquid.
Any ideas what the solution might be? The valves and seals on the lighters are fine. (Maybe not the can?)
I don’t get it, I’ve heard no other complaints about Neon.
