Reliable and cheap cars under $6.5k?
I'm looking for cheap-ish commuter cars that'll last me atleast 3 years with minimal maintenance. Will probably be doing 10-12k miles per year.

What's the reliability like with B58 engines?
I'm looking at used ~2016 bmw m240i, 340 and 440i.
Wondering if the engine is all hype or it's actually decent to maintain? The ones I'm looking at are around the 60-80k mile mark.

CARFAX is getting expensive. What are the best alternatives?
I'm shopping for a used car and pulling CARFAX reports on everything I look at adds up fast. $45 for one report!
Mainly I care about title history, accident records, and whether the odometer's been messed with.
Any good alternatives?
EDIT: I went with Vinpanda, 15$ for a very in depth report, basically the same as CARFAX but cheaper.
