A video of the incident, captured by his sibling, showed Gowda jumping into the pond and trying to swim. He is seen flailing around and managing to stay afloat for about half-a-minute. However, he soon started to find it hard to swim.
>As a few more seconds passed, a young boy, who was swimming in the same pond with the help of an inflated tube approached Gowda and extended his arm in order to save him but he could not quite grab Gowda's arm.
>Within the next minute or so, Gowda's strength gradually gave up, and he drowned.
Safety Lesson:
Even calm-looking ponds and small bodies of water can become life-threatening for inexperienced swimmers. This incident highlights the importance of understanding your swimming ability before entering deep water, using appropriate flotation devices when needed, and ensuring that capable rescue equipment or assistance is available nearby. Drowning can occur quickly and often provides little time for effective self-rescue or intervention.
