Israel recognition of Armenian Genocide
There is a lot of talks about whether it is ethical or not that Israel recognized the Genocide right now. There are opinions that they are hypocrites, they are doing genocide right now, etc.
Amongst the countries that are recognized, there is no single country that did recognition based on interests of Republic Armenia. When you are an average French and went for election, would expect that your elected president will do anything that harm you economically, let's say by recognizing the Genocide of Circassians or Ingushes in Russian Empire?
We think that we are unique, but there were dozens of massacres and genocides happened during 20th century (also in 21st), and no leader is expected to recognize them all in cost of their own people. And if they do they would do it to use it as a weapon (exactly as Pashinyan named that). Even Holocaust was used as weapon to pacify and denazify Germans: and the question is whether we can use that weapon in our own interest.
People suddenly feel pride with the response of Pashinyan to the Israeli recognition, now think about for a second: Do you expect a different response, if tomorrow Saudi Arabia recognizes it?
The response means one thing: We are aligned with Turkey on the issue the Armenian Genocide.
P.S. Society can still condemn Israel for being genocidal state, for being hypocrites or simply for having bloodthirsty leadership. But this was not response that I expect form the Armenian leadership.
