Can I throw these out on pickup day LIC, NY one of the high rises
Like this. Panels. Light. Metal. Do I stack up and throw out on pickup or unacceptable? Better way to dispose? I’ll do it. Fencing used on road trips and camping with dog. No longer need. A shame. $200 value but no one wants. Advice, DSNY? Curbside yea or nay? Wanna do the right thing!
Thank you.
Kids room minimalism, help me out!
Anybody here care to share their kids rooms? I went from having one kid to two. Advice, inspiration — anything highly appreciated
Not a tech, asking about tuning and other things for piano that hasn’t been touched in almost 20 years . NYC, Long Island City
Hello all.
I live in NYC, jn LIC. About 20 years ago, I was given a piano as a gift from my grandmother before she passed.
It’s not a spectacular piano. It is an okay-quality piano. We gifted brand new.
Never been touched by a tech in twenty years. Been moved from apartment to apartment because I couldn’t part with it. This may have hurt the piano, I’m sure.
So I have two young children now. The time to enroll them in piano lessons grows ever nearer.
A quick Google search tells me this sort of piano history requires many visits from a tech and specialized care.
I’m not a fabulously wealthy person but am committed to restoring this piano. The piano itself is not expensive. But it’s what I have left from my grandmother.
Any advice? Thank you so much. This is an incredibly serious inquiry. I would love responses.
Edit: thank you to the various techs that have commented on my post. I will be looking into setting appt for tech to consult and move forward with maintenance/ repairs. Feeling hopeful. Have a great Labor Day weekend
Parents of musical kids
Where do you send your kids for music lessons? Do you travel? Piano, vocal, upright bass, things like this
Copying someone else and celebrating LIC
Sixth year in LIC. No big, splashy retailers have moved in yet. It still has that early Red Hook feel. Best part of Hunters Point is the fact that it’s still largely industrial. Keeps it kind of quiet at night.
I really love being away from thumping nightlife. I understand that in a few years, this will all change. But I love it here so much. And love that it kinda feels the way it does. The things people don’t like about it, I like about it. Maybe it doesn’t have old world charm but it feels nice and new right now. Yes, it will change but I’m so happy my young children are here while it’s still nice and quiet.
I like to see the skyline at Gantry State without it feeling crowded like DUMBO. DUMBO makes me feel almost choked. I feel like I can breathe.
Hopefully vast developmental changes won’t be completely noticeable until my kids are well into high school.
I love you guys. And I love being your neighbor.
And I love the fact that most of you are like me and are considerate, peace-keeping neighbors. I really appreciate you all for keeping it the way we like it.
❤️❤️❤️ have a good weekend, everyone.
“Per diem” Nannies? Hunters Point
Hey.
My toddler goes to daycare during the week.
My job is not M-F 9-5.
Looks like I have some weekend stuff coming up.
Specifically first weekend of December, for example.
I don’t even know where to start to look for someone to watch the little one for some weekends or such and such.
Like maybe five times a year, max. If you are such person, drop a comment !! Or know where to look/agency — let me know ??
