Do y’all have some weird Top Gun trauma?

I don’t get all these posts throwing shade @ the Safe Lee videos. If people keep complaining, they aren’t going to make you stop watching safety videos. They are going to make you watch more of the boring “I worked in a store and a customer used the wrong cart and it broke tile” videos that you ignore anyways. These videos try to be engaging and light hearted, and are fun and silly. You still have your standard videos you aren’t paying attention to. But with the Safe Lee videos, more people definitely pay attention and listen. Be it if they enjoy the story line or are hate watching it.

I agree they’re mildly cringe but cringe culture is dead. Enjoy the small things in life or die salty

Friend is getting kicked out in 2 weeks, where can they start looking?

My friend was doing housing with the Zebra Coalition, and are getting kicked out soon. They lost their job recently and are looking for a second one. Does anyone know of any cheap places they can stay? I can pass them along to a homeless shelter, but she is a young trans woman and that thought is intimidating to her

New reader taking any recommendations!!

Hey! So, me and a friend group have all just started reading the marvel comics. We finished Warren Ellis’ Moon Knight, and are reading Doctor Strange by Mark Waid before death of doctor strange, and one of the group is scouting the Angela: Asgard Assassin comics.

We’re all super into the League of Legends universe, that is to say mages and magic tend to be a bit more appealing than someone like ironman (which we absolutely will get to! Just wanna hit stories we’re more familiar with first!)

I want to eventually hit all the major arcs in the more modern art style, even the bad, like I have heard the Inhuman arc seems to be labeled as, (I also don’t.. really know what all the major arcs are) so anything you want to throw out as reading material before those, or any arcs that are your favorite, I am all ears!!

I also know one of my friends wants to get super into Knull and the symbiotes at some point so, anything similar or to do with them would be mint!!

I know this is a broad ass post but it’s kind of meant to be. I’m okay with a bit of a scattershot of recommendations, and I really wanna know what some of your guys favorite stories are, especially if they’re a bit niche :D

Jax might be my least favorite character in.. maybe all of the media I have consumed

And I don’t mean that as an understatement. There are plenty of characters I don’t like. Hoffman in the saw franchise I have ranted about for years, but that’s cause I find his character boring and they spend several years not knowing what to do with him.

Jax, on the other hand, is an abusive person that the community rallies behind? If abstraction is symbolic of suicide, he is responsible for two peoples actual suicide. They would didn’t know they weren’t still alive and abstraction has been shown to be a choice.

Besides this, the fucking Kinners. So many people kin this guy. People I know irl and see in subs. The message to take away from his story is “be a shit person. Make all the wrong decisions. Push the people you care about to suicide. People will still love and accept you so be an asshole.” And I see it in action.

Also making him canonically trans is fucking horrible for trans representation. I have seen people comparing all trans people to this fucking self insert bullshit of a character, saying all trans people are like him. A choice I cannot wrap my head around considering the amazing rep we were getting in zooble, just to forget about that and hyper focus on not even redeeming the guy for the runtime of an episode.

I have never in my life so adamantly despised a character. To the point where a character specifically ruins and makes me not like a show at all. I still like the saw movies. Still watch the ones with characters I don’t like even when I know they win. But Jax literally makes me not able to recommend the show. I hate his character so fucking much and I could go on for hours but the handling of his character is sinful the amount of damage I have seen him cause in the literal real world. People actually justifying their actions cause this fictional ACTUAL ABUSER and MURDERER is popular. Fuck this guy and fuck Glitch

Anything to read before death of doctor strange?

I’m totally new to the marvel comics. I have just finished my first series in Moon Knight, by Warren Ellis, and that’s literally all I have read yet. Death of Doctor Strange is super enticing to me but I’m afraid I might be jumping into the middle of a story. I know there is mote Strange by MacKay, which I will obviously do first, but I wanted to know if there are any comics that come before this story that I should read, be it for context or for fun

Clicker that makes a different sound than others?

I trained my cat on a clicker before we got a puppy, and now we have said puppy, and I was looking around online for a clicker that would make a different sound, as to not call my cat while training puppy. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I hate people who think they have DID

This is being said as someone with DID. I have a few friends in my life who get really excited to hear about my experiences. And I know a lot of people don’t have a ton of experience with people with DID, so I like to be the educator and tell them some of the ins and outs.

I noticed back in middle and high school, when I would do this, some people would notice similarities in the way their brain works, and start thinking “oh man maybe I have that too!” These have always been small things I think most people can relate to in some way, things like “hazy memory” or “hearing words in your head you didn’t mean to think,” and even at the time I thought that was bs. Most of them would be like “oh yeah I remember a time when I was 8 that my dad yelled at me and it made me cry a bit,” as their inciting incident. Or say things like “oh well I don’t remember when I was 2 years old so I must be repressing trauma.”

If it just ended at that, some immature mental health larping, that would be one thing. But often times they would end up just blaming their bad actions on their other “alters” as a way to try and avoid consequences.

This all really made me stop opening up about having DID myself. I got really tired of people pretending to relate to me just to use the “I have did” excuse.. idk at all? It’s never something I have used as a defensive against anything. Sometimes there are miscommunications caused by it and even then I tend to roll over and accept that even if my actions weren’t made my me, but another alter, other people don’t experience it as that so I just accept responsibility and try and move on.

Anyways, I’ve been out of school for almost a decade now and meeting what I hoped was more mature friends, and I had hoped now would be different. One of which, we can call Elle, found out I have DID and asked all these questions and I thought it was really nice at first to be able to talk to people about this again. It’s a struggle I deal with silently every single day and it was nice to open up. Eventually I come to find they have an ex partner they aren’t over and they have decided they must also have DID for some reason, despite not having any childhood trauma to speak of, and that is why they have these complex emotions. These “sometimes I feel like I love them, sometimes I hate them,” thoughts. And they will tell me “oh this ‘alter’ had a moment the other day and tried to reach out but I didn’t want to reach out to them”. And I have been direct with them. That I feel like it sounds absolutely normal to have complicated emotions. I have them too. But it is incredibly easy for me to tell when one of my alters has a different opinion than I might compared to when I might just think two things at once.

I have told her outright “I do not believe you have this thing” and they will ignore it and tell me things their “alters” do that are different. I tell them they should really talk to a therapist but they, shocker here, don’t think a therapist would diagnose them with DID (even though they really just need to work this out, not seek a diagnosis). I tell them it feels like stolen valor, and like they’re in a way mocking the real trauma I went through to excuse fawning over an ex, someone who Elle had broke into their exes house and say it was another alter “controlling” them.

This is one of three people well into their twenties now, some going on thirty. I really thought by now this immature diagnosis claiming shit would have rooted itself out with age but apparently fucking not.

My struggle is not an excuse. My struggle is fucking real and the fact that so many people still think it’s something they can just co-opt into it without understanding just how much I have been though is astounding. Baffling. God, if you’re that much of an asshole, just wear it on your sleeve please. Don’t try and find some wack mental diagnosis you know nothing about to blame that shit on.

How well does using the voice feature work for translating?

So, I work with a lot of contractors, and occasionally they speak very little english and I feel worried I’m going to end up giving them the wrong product, or when I ask a question they might give me the wrong answer. I want to know if I can use the option to talk to it to translate on the fly, or if there’s a better option yet :)

My playlist is about to hit 420 songs. What are some of your favorite songs about/mentioning weed?

I know I could go with some of the classics, snoop dog or afroman, but I wanted to see if anyone has something else before I mark this occasion :)
