We’ve built a crowdsourced app/platform to help moviegoers answer the question “what time does the movie really start?” (clearly a favorite question on this sub), and then decide which room/screen is best…or which to avoid.

It’s called It’s Starting! and it’s available now in the Apple App Store, link below, and there’s a sign up for an Android beta (also linked).

It’s free now and always will be. You can create an account to save favorite theaters, review log history and connect to Trakt.tv.

The app is easy to use. Choose your theater and movie, enter the ticketed showtime and auditorium number, optionally add the format (IMAX, 4DX, etc…) and Showing Type (Regular, Early Screening, Re-Release) and then when the movie starts, tap It’s Starting! to log the actual start time.

When the movie is over, you answer a randomized question about the experience or the theater. You can answer more than one question (optional) or provide a comment which really helps. And if you have known information about an auditorium/screen, you can submit that as well. The goal is to get the data back to the theater so that they can make improvements.

The app has only been live a few weeks and is in early days with improvements being made all the time. But for it to be useful, it needs people contributing. It’d be like Waze if nobody reported traffic or accidents. I’ll add a comments about a user in Albuquerque and the 15 logs made in the past 10 days, as well as reports on a Regal in the suburbs of Philly.

Looking for fellow moviegoers who frequent the Regal in Downingtown, PA. I’m collecting/crowdsourcing feedback for this theater and the neighboring Movie Tavern in Exton. The goal is to source both avg wait times and room by room feedback so future moviegoers know how to make the best decision. Just getting started but the info is helpful so far. Any info gathered is then made available for free to anyone checking out the theater. Comment or PM if interested. Have some info on Movie Tavern and Regal KOP, but mostly interested in tackling this one at a time for now.

Before reddit became a haven for "I built an app that actually helps you learn guitar" posts, I shared a project I was working on and got great feedback on a site that has been shaped by this community. I'm not shooting for the moon, but about 25 people use the tools per day and stay on for an average of 5 minutes, I'm happy with that. Anyway, what I want you to play with is called JamSense, which is my favorite and most used feature. A quick video of it in action: JamSense Songs to Scales. I have 21 backing tracks loaded up to choose from. Pick a track and then watch the fretboard. You'll see what key you're in, target notes, and passing notes. You can choose to have the fretboard change with each chord, or choose a single scale (it'll still highlight the target notes for you). Under the View drop down, change to Arpeggios to see all the triad shapes. I have a blast playing along to these tracks and will add more in the future. My boss had his new clubs sent to my house. I get it my car to back out of the driveway yesterday when I see my neighbor waving his hands and yelling as I started to move. At that exact time I see something I didn’t expect in my backup camera and jam the brake. Get out and see the box with the clubs leaning against the back of my car (which without a backup camera would not have been visible). A couple things really piss me off. First, seems crazy to lean something like that against someone’s vehicle - especially since the house is like 50 feet from there. Second, and what really gets me, are the notes from the driver in the screenshot “Left at front door.” Bitch, that isn’t even the front door of the car!
