I built these for my fire department

Hey everyone, I’m a 13 year career firefighter. I’ve been blessed with this wonderful career and to be able to work for an awesome fire department.

The men and women I work along side put in a great amount of work and effort for my community. And I wanted to do something for them.

I got into woodworking about a year ago and recently got a wild hair to make these for my Fire family.

The intention was to give them something they could enjoy and use to unwind during downtime

Let me know what do you guys think? Was this time well spent on a project or nah…

I also made a video showing the process of building these. It also includes my brothers and sisters of the fire department enjoying them.

check that out if you’re interested

Ps: I was sent here by popular demand, I hope you guys enjoy this build 🙏

Build for my Fire department

Hey everyone, 13 year career firefighter here!

Let me start this by saying how blessed I’ve been to have this job and to work for such a great department.

About a year ago I got into woodworking as a hobby. I recently got a wild hair and decided to make these for my fellow firefighters. The men and women that service along side me put in so much work and effort for our community, I felt they deserved to have something they can enjoy and use to unwind during down time

What do you guys think? FD approved?

I’ve also made a video of the building process and it shows my brothers and sisters using them within the fire houses, check it out if you’re interested in seeing that— https://youtu.be/i9nPTl9Na24?is=BuCxcRYY1gkfLAqj

Ps, if this is not an acceptable post, let me know, I’ll remove it, thank you and I hope you guys like it! 🙏🙏

***UPDATE*** to my last post here

https://youtu.be/i9nPTl9Na24?is=InfwcZVllZuIME9A

Hey everyone! I finally got around to making an update for the arcades I built.

For anyone interested in seeing the full update of my FD arcades within their new home, please see the link I shared, I really appreciate everyone that showed support for my builds… it means so much!

PS, if this is against rules I’ll take down. I made this post due to having multiple people asking for an update/full build video

Model 2 vs retroshooter

Hey everyone,

Im really sorry to bother with this…. I’m trying to get House of the Dead working properly in Model 2 on Batocera (tested on both v42 and v43.1), but it seems to hate my RetroShooter setup.
Both guns register in the emulator — I can add coins and press Start with either gun. Pressing Start gives both players their 3 lives, so the emulator clearly sees both guns to some extent. The problem starts once gameplay begins: both P1 and P2 share the same cursor when triggers are pulled, but only Player 1 can actually move it.
So far I’ve tried:
calibrating the guns

changing DIP switch settings

messing with Batocera’s pre-game controller configuration

checking the Batocera wiki

Unfortunately, none of that has fixed the issue nor answered the questions I have.
At this point I’m wondering:
Is there some known workaround for RetroShooters + Model 2?

Or am I basically SOL with this emulator/setup?

I’m still pretty new to Batocera, but I’ve spent hours troubleshooting this before coming here to ask for help. Any advice would be appreciated.

Made these for my Fire Department

Super quick “couple of things about me”:

1.I’ve completed 10 projects since I started woodworking as a hobby 13 months ago.

2.I’m a firefighter working a 48-hour on / 96-hour off schedule, which gives me the opportunity to spend more time at home working on projects like this.

  1. I built these two cabinets for the department I work for. They took about 50 hrs over the month of May, and I’m pretty proud of how they turned out. I’d love to hear what you think of them.

I ran into significant problems throughout the entire process—wood blowouts while routing, items arriving broken, and even having hours of painting ruined when a random-ass dust devil tore through my paint booth while I was spraying.
That being said, I feel like I managed to save the these guys and produce the best work I’ve done to date.

What do you think of them? And at what point would you say someone graduates from being a beginner to at least an adept woodworker?

Fire Department Arcades

Hello everyone! I don’t want to make long post or anything so I’ll try to do this quick. I work for a Fire Department and we stay busy with emergency calls especially in the world of EMS. The men and women of my department work/train very hard to be the people our community can count on! With that being said, I wanted to make something for my fire family to enjoy during their down time. With my 48hrs on 96hr off type of schedule, I was able to pick up woodworking as a hobby. Here are some of the results and I’ll be delivering these to two of our fire houses today! What do you all think? Will they enjoy them?

PS: I apologize if this isn’t an acceptable post, I’ll remove if needed

Is Gaming Dead?

Am I the only one that feels gaming is dead or at least dying?

I mean… in terms of competitive shooters the amount of 3rd party cheating devices and the amount of people using them are insane! Making games like COD, PUBG, and other BRs pointless to play.

Micro transactions are so overbearing. I miss the days of playing a game to unlock new items/characters. Not “buy this buy that”, I know developers have to make money and some micro transactions are expected but season passes on top of loot crates and whatever else they conjure up to squeeze every ounce out all in the name of greed has got me pretty disappointed with it all.

Don’t get me started on this “console war” nonsense, both PS and XBOX have made some silly/odd decisions in my opinion especially with the “buy the license not the game” I mean what..? You want us to spend $80-$200 for a game that we are now basically just leasing. To top it off, if at any time someone steps out of line according to companies user agreements we’ll be revoked and unable to play the game? I understand wanting to protect people from bullying and things of that matter but I’m sorry these companies can’t really expect people to pay high dollar for a game that will never actually belong to the consumer right? Right??

PS. If this subreddit isn’t the place for these thoughts I’ll gladly this post down, this was meant for discussion purposes only
