What Banking Roles Offer the Best Remote Opportunities and Geographical Flexibility?

Hi all,

I’m a personal banker at a large U.S. bank, but I’m originally from another country, and my entire family still lives there.

I came to the U.S. for college, so I used to spend around four months a year back home. Now, after 10 months in a full-time banking position, I can only visit for about 15 days a year.

I’m happily married here and plan to build my life and raise a family in the U.S., but one of my biggest goals is finding a way to spend more time with my parents, brother, and grandparents.

My bank offers plenty of opportunities for growth, including courses, certifications, and degree programs. The thing is, I’m not necessarily looking for a higher salary. What I’m really looking for is geographical flexibility.

In a couple of months, I’ll be eligible to apply for other positions within the bank. Ideally, I’d like a role that would allow me to work remotely, even if only temporarily, so I could spend a month working from my home country each year.

For those of you with banking experience, what roles would you recommend? I’m open to anything.

Credit score dropped 110 points after my first missed payment. How bad is this for buying a house next year?

I’m 25 and have been building my credit for about two years. Until now, I had never missed a payment on anything.

Back in April, I opened a new credit card for an international trip. I ended up not using it during the trip, but in May I used it once to buy about $66 worth of gas. I completely forgot about that purchase.

The first payment was due on June 15, and I didn’t realize I had missed it until July 27, when I immediately paid the full balance. Unfortunately, the payment was already more than 30 days late and was reported to the credit bureaus.

My credit score dropped from around 750 to about 640 (roughly a 110-point drop), which has me really worried.

The rest of my credit profile is pretty solid:

I have three other credit cards that I’ve always paid in full and on time.
I’ve never had any other late payments before this.
My credit history is about two years old.
My wife has an excellent credit score (around 760).

My wife and I are hoping to buy a house around the middle of next year, so I’m concerned about how much this one mistake will affect our mortgage options.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? How much can a score typically recover over the next 10–12 months if I don’t miss any more payments? Is there anything else I should be doing besides continuing to pay everything on time?

I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thanks!

How does your branch assign walk-in customers to bankers?

I’m curious how other banks handle walk-in customer rotation among bankers.

For some context: our branch opened recently, and our branch manager is new to the company, so he’s still learning a lot about how things are done. One banker was already with the bank, another transferred to a different city, and I’m new to the company as well. On top of that, we currently have two bankers from another branch training with us until their own new branch opens in September, and our regional manager asked for them to be included in the “rotation” too.

The problem is that we don’t really have a system for assigning walk-in customers. We don’t have a receptionist. Usually one banker is in the lobby greeting customers and ends up taking whoever walks in, or a teller refers the customer to whichever banker they choose at the moment. Because of that, some bankers end up getting significantly more opportunities than others.

Back in my home country, I worked in real estate, and every walk-in or phone lead went through a rotation system so everyone received an equal share of opportunities. I tried creating a simple rotation sheet in our lobby, but nobody really follows it, and management hasn’t enforced anything.

So I’m wondering: how does your branch handle walk-ins? Do you have a formal rotation, a greeter schedule, teller assignments, or something else? I’d love to hear what works at your bank.

Why was my sleep not tracked last night?

I did everything right. The device was not too tight and not too loose, Bluetooth was on, I refreshed the app more than ten times throughout the day, and I still can’t see my sleep stats. So so frustrating.

Inaccurate sleep tracking!

I was definitely fully asleep by midnight yesterday, but it’s saying that I didn’t fall asleep until 2:30 AM.

What’s going on?!

F30 headlight replacement advice (fogged lens, unsure OEM type)

One side got extremely foggy and can’t be fixed. I’m looking for good-looking headlights that aren’t too expensive. I’ve heard you have to match whatever came stock (halogen, xenon, or LED), but I don’t even know which ones I have.

Any recommendations?
