Need to explain the subscription system with Avid

I am providing screenshots of the issue. I have a perpetual license but cannot open Pro Tools. I don't even know where to begin explaining this. There are 3 images. Active perpetual product, expired one-year subscription, and all visible licenses expired.

I cannot open ANYTHING. Serioously, call me a moron but this makes no sense to me. Help!

I want pinball and beers

I’m 57 and I just wanna drink some beers and play pinball. Years ago I used to go to Barcade up in northern liberties but now I’m staying in South Philly. I was wondering if there’s any good places around down here.

I am laid up with a bum Knee and I need some suggestions for opera videos.

As I said, I’m kind of bedridden because I have a busted knee and so I thought I would take this time to dive into opera. I want to actually see the operas as well as hear them so I’m looking for recommendations of good videos for operas online. Right now I’m mainly interested in 19 century, romantic style operas. Italian or German. Thank you in advance for any recommendations, you throw my way.

Been lurking here but decided to ask about choices for my future.

Not sure how to word this, but here goes:
I just left a K-12 music teaching job at a Title 1 school in a VERY rural area in the west. The pay was not enough, nor were the benefits. The kids were damn close to feral, as well.
I have moved to a large city on the East Coast, where I have few friends who say they can get me into the city school district. Higher pay, better benefits.
However, I have a master's in educational technology and have done a TON of online teaching, curriculum building, and development. I did this for a few major universities. I also have 2 bachelors and another masters (music history).

I am wondering if I should go for an instructional design job (risky) or go back to teaching (probably just middle school or high school. I will NEVER go back to teaching elementary!) which is a sure thing, but I am a bit gun-shy about it after my last experience.

I know no one can make this decision but me, but what are the chances of getting work in ID, which I am hearing is a saturated field? Should I take the sure thing? I'm also late middle age.

High end cocktail bars - where are they? Need work . . .

I am posting this on behalf of my GF (46), who is moving to Philly from CO. I am already here and getting a job with the PSD but she is having some problems finding work as a grant writer (her main gig.) In the meantime, she is an excellent bartender who has worked AND managed some high-end cocktail bars in New Orleans. Where are the high-end places in Philly? We checked out Grace & Proper when she was here (awesome place, by the way), but we need other suggestions for places where she might get some part-time work.
Appreciate any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Student cannot play Bb4, only hits Bb5.

I am a band director so flute is not my first instrument. I have a student who is just beginning on the flute and the first note they are trying to learn is B flat 4. They occasionally hit it, but it is very wispy and weak sounding. But the real issue is that they keep going up to B flat 5. Any advice on how to fix this? I am assuming it is an embouchere problem.

Leaving today - last day of school and already getting offers.

I am a K - 12 music teacher in a rural Title 1 school district. Pay was terrible, and the benefits were a joke. We had no union and a really high turnover rate of both teachers and students. It was really an awful job (although I did have some really great colleagues and students)
The minute I posted on various social media platforms, offers started to come in - I am a music teacher, and I have already been offered performance gigs and private lesson teaching at different schools and colleges. I am also moving to a major city where there is better pay and more opportunities.
Why am I saying this? Because when things get so bad, there is always a way out. Let people know you are available and move if you have to. Leap before you look. And keep the faith.

Another thing for teachers to police and monitor.

So our school has a “zero tolerance” policy when it comes to cell phones. This was implemented back in January. Well, guess whose job it is to enforce it? Amongst all of the other behavioral issues (title 1 school) we now have to enforce this policy. Administration just says “make it so” and we have to do all the work.
If you have a zero tolerance policy for cell phones, you should be collecting them at the door in the morning and returning them at the end of the day. NOT putting more burden on your teachers. Wake the eff up.

Is there any digital copy of Nika Aldrich's book "Digital Audio Explained?"

I bought the book and have been scanning various pages for students to use in my class but it would be a lot easier if there was a fully digital copy. Also, it would be cheaper for students to just buy the digital copy.

First, I want to thank everyone for the great and encouraging comments I received about my single-sided deafness issue. You have really given me hope and pulled me out of what seemed to be a pending depressive episode. Even with only one ear, I feel I can do this. (The caveat: I am not looking to do this full-time as a profession, but rather, as a means of learning, composing, creating, and engineering.)

Having said that, I started reading Nika Aldrich's book "Digital Audio Explained." As I work through it, I am constantly finding myself going down rabbit holes on various topics - Nyquit Frequency, Foursier Transform, etc.

What resources should I be accessing to understand these, and principles like them, to understand them better? Could be books, videos, whatever. I know it may be more than I need to know to do what I want in the studio but, damn, I just find it really interesting and feel compelled to know more about it. Thanks in advance.
