It's insane that this game has both the best and the worst graphics at the same time

It's NOT a negative post by any means, I just want to point out some existing issues.

200 hours in, its still surreal to me that some parts of CD look absolutely breathtaking, others are even worse than a 2015 game. They literally pulled a reverse BDO with amazing draw distance and a horrendous closer look.

The leaves get fuzzy when its 4-5am or 6-8pm, the puddles and armours blind my eyes with their shimmering. Wyvern wings flapping when you are facing any cloud or water looks like a f*cking bowtie with that terrible ghosting.

Before anyone says RR, I play on 4k with my 5080, and even dlss performance can't get it above 60 fps. No frame gen, no overclock. If you don't believe me, check those countless Youtube benchmarks and you'll know who's lying when someone claims the game runs "Flawlessly" with RR. Also what about PS5 and low end pcs? They can't even have RR on 1080p.

My point is they really need to optimize the game. Fps dips below 60 whenever your base fps is around 70 and you are engaging in a huge fight, so it basically forces you to maintain 80+ fps exploring.

I have played BDO for years, I know PA can do better.

Edit: I have noticed that Reddit compressed the video, so I'll explain: in the first shot riverbanks and my armour shimmer, which is incredibly bad at 4k. The second clip with me staring at horizons shows the game excels at rendering long distance, which is phenomenal and beautiful.

Also I absolutely adore this game, you guys can check my post history, I love doing cool little things and CD is my dream game. The reason why I'm pointing out those issues is because I sincerely hope it can improve and be a better game.

Edit 2: Please stop replying that your GPU can "Run the game well" with UNKNOWN resolution, settings, upscaling or frame gen. For some reason I see people doing this a lot when talking about this game. I never said the game looks bad, but the visual artifacts are legit. It's not about artstyle, design or performance, they are just real, unintended artifacts.

Tip: You can fly and cling to hostile wyverns and its rider, knocking them out of the sky.

Clean, cinematic and funny sometimes.

Discovered after 200 hours though.

Trade update is so fun

Tip: You can summon comrades to escort your wagon ride, helping you to deal with bandits on the road.

This update really gave me a reason to slowly travel across the land, especially the desert.

This is what a fully upgraded ATAG can do

Laser shredding enemies and ramming into crowds like a drunken driver. Such an underrated mount.

Maxed Out Oongka is Insane

I personally think he's more fun to play than Kliff. 200 hours in, finally get to maximize this powerhouse of an orc.

Abyss One Magnus, the only "direct" reference to BDO, yet it's only on the cover art (Lore discussion)

Background knowledge: Magnus is a dimension that allows players to travel instantly in BDO. I believe it is the inspiration of Abyss in CD.

Before anyone says "Shakatu" or "Hexe Maire", I'd love to point out, like other references to BDO in CD, they only got the same design and name. Their timeline and deeds are vastly different.

Yet in this cover art, you can clearly see the Magnus design is mostly unchanged, although CD version adapts similar blocky appearance of its abyss. This is incredibly interesting since Magnus is famous for its round silhouette, while Abyss in CD has cubic shapes (which is suspiciously close to Ancients in BDO). And you have access of Magnus by jumping into a well, so in BDO, "abyss" is somewhere under normal world. In CD, abyss is high up in sky, which leads me to think that CD being parallel universe, is somehow "under BDO".

The weird absence of the entire civilization called Sylvian in CD also supports my point. In BDO lore, Archers are tasked to defend the Root City from "The other world". Fend off something underground? I don't think it's a coincidence. That explains why there's no Sylvians in CD.

Conclusion: CD being parallel to BDO is not as loosely as we thought. There might be some solid connections between them...

A cool XP farm I found (10+ artifacts in 4 min)

Best late game farm I found!

  1. Mount Black Star.
  2. Wait until hordes of bounty hunters show up, then burn them. You can get at least 1 artifact per pack.
  3. You must kill everyone to spawn the next batch, or you can simply fly away, a new horde will spawn near you.
  4. Repeat to gain xp.

I find this farm rather helpful if you are in post game but never leveled Oongka or Damiane, so fighting normal enemies will not be difficult.

I ADORE Crimson Desert as a Black Desert Online player...

Crimson Desert is my game of decade.

I have only picked up this game a week ago, and I've poured 50 hrs in it. Due to me preparing for college I hadn't played it at launch, but finally getting it really made me think how far Pearl Abyss came.

Black Desert Online has always been my top game, despite only putting around 680 hours (That was the best I can do as a high school student who had 3 hrs of gaming per week). So you guys can't even imagine how thrilled I was when I heard about CD was real and put out a trailer. People accusing it was fake since too many systems were presented, but I believed that PA got this.

And the game didn't disappoint! It is exactly what I imagined this game would be. They say it's way ambitious to implement so much in a game, yet I know 90% of mechanics are in BDO, they just needed refinement. The game did that. I remembered PA gave everyone a dragon mount in BDO just to test the flying in CD, that's what I call dedication to their craft.

To be honest, BDO was, and still is a mess of a game. But this jankiness is what sold me Crimson Desert. I am eager to discover what they put in the new game that stood on the ground of their last entry. The earring enhance system gave me PTSD of black spirit, the horrible pop in issue, the crazy horse drifting...No matter good or bad, they indeed remind me of the simple days of BDO.

I thank you, Pearl Abyss. For putting my purchased pearl boxes to good use, to craft such a beautiful world, where your all time followers can just tear up when they see Alustin or the town of Velia. I love this game.

P.S. Where is Kamasylvia? I want my Dark Knight mommy

I always choose the first dialogue, no matter which playthrough.

Call me soft and naive if you want to, but "I like this world" choice will forever be my favorite. It's not some cliche anime protagonist speech, It's about what the player should do when the game is about to end, and what they feel towards the game they play.

I love this world because I've seen it, many times, from many perspectives. I saw the great volcano of Vardenfell and fought he false god, I was the champion and hero of Kvatch, who witnessed the jaw of Oblivion opened. So when Skyrim was in danger, I, playing the dragonborn, needed to preserve this world, the world I'm so invested in.

I love this world because I'm someone that can achieve something that I never dreamed of in the real world, where I'm just a normal introvert who doesn't have any courage to fight against the tide of life. But in Tamrial I'm a shackle-less man, roaming in the wilds and mountains, facing dangers and finding treasures. I can escape the world called Earth and rejoice in my freedom.

It doesn't matter if I'm the Arch Mage, or the Listener, If I'm a good person in game or a sinister thief, this world gave me those options, and I would gladly live them, again and again.

I don't want the world to end because I like it. It's so simple yet so touching. The main quest of Skyrim was often overlooked, But I think they got it right. To a Avatar who lives in the world that is fake, will you choose to end it?

  1. Talion(Som)

Easily my favourite playable character. His combat move is smooth and brutal, I hate how in SOW his execution often doesn't dismember orcs for necromancy sakes, and his shadow strike is so busted that I think Sow nerfing that is a right call.

And don't even get me started on Elven light+Wraith burn, the only compiant is that Talion in Som is so powerful that it kinda ruined the end game.

  1. Celebrimbor(Bright Lord)

Talion but builds army. Better than sow Talion.

  1. Talion(Sow Nazgul)

They somehow gave him more ability and make him worse. I don't think it's the design fault but the clunky Sow controls and bullshit enemy immunities. Once you reach lv80, killing orc captains is a chore. But I love his mobility.

The thing I don't like him is that the game is based on arkham combat yet in late game you often find yourself trapped in large battles where target locking doesn't work well.

  1. Eltarial

Too busted. Easily the most unfair character in the Middle Earth series. Unlimited elven lights without might, vaporizing 10 orcs just by pressing one button repreatly, and the bow can 3 shot any orc captains that aren't arrow proof.

She can build combos Really fast, in 5 seconds you can just get 70+ combos and every hit sends enemies flying. That one snowflake guy was pretty tough though.

  1. Baranor

Literally Batman. I get the arkham combat feeling in his vein, and the mercenaries he summons is busted because why not.

What's your favorite character?
