Can this constant hunger be cause by quetiapine?

I have bipolar disorder and have been on some kind of antipsychotic for the past 18 years or so. Currently am on lamotrigine 100mg in the morning + 150g at night + quetiapine 250mg (immediate release) at night.

For over a decade I've had pangs of hunger where I just feel very weak, my hands are shaking and everything falls off of them including the food I'm trying to eat, I trip on everything, can't remember basic words like chair, TV, fridge. It's not cravings - I'm not thinking about any food in particular I'm just weak and crummy and either I eat everything in sight or I eat some candy and even then it takes a bit before I feel like myself again. Once I even had to call my boyfriend to come pick me up because I was on the street and then I could barely walk and just sat on the sidewalk crying.

Some months ago I made an effort to add more fruit and veggies to my diet hoping it will help me feel satiated for longer. And strength training at the gym 2 times a week + one cardio day. But it's not working. I'm still hungry every 1.5hr/2hrs. I'm gaining weight because I'm simply eating more food and my clothes are starting to not fit because I'm adding muscle on top of my normal weight.

When I try ignoring the hunger I get to that point where I'm weak and shaky, my brain can't function and I eat everything in sight.

My current diet is more or less like this:

- Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs + one small (around 40g) piece of toast + 1 drinkable low fact lactose free yogurt + 1 coffee with a small coffee spoon of sugar.

I'm hungry 1.5hrs (sometimes 1 hr) after this. I eat an apple (peel on) + 30g of cornflakes or 1 drinkable yogurt or 1 solid yogurt (both low fat), sometimes I eat all of this.

- Lunch: always start with a bowl of vegetable soup. Then my plate is about one third vegetables (steamed broccoli/brussel sprouts/green beans/cabbage) + one third protein + one third carb

Once again I'm hungry 1hr - 2hrs after this. I eat a 100g bowl of low fat greek yogurt with 11g all bran cereal + an apple or a liquid yogurt. Sometimes I'm still weak so I eat one toast with scrambled eggs or cornflakes.

- Dinner: same as lunch. And then I need to eat around 30mins before bedtime or else I wake in the middle of the night feeling weak and hungry or wake up in the morning so weak I struggle to get out of bed. I usually eat some cereal + a yogurt or some toast with scrambled egg or greek yogurt with all bran. If I eat soup or fruit I wake up in the middle of the night needing to poop.

I've tried bigger meals (more veggies + side salad of lettuce and tomatoes with a spritz of olive oil and I eat until my stomach is so full it's uncomfortable) but I'm still hungry about 3hrs after. I always have a 700ml bottle of water with me and I'm drinking at least 3 bottles of those per day. Drink alcohol 2 - 4 times per month max and it's always just a glass of sangria or a small bottle of apple cider.

Could it be the quetiapine causing this? My psychiatrist thinks it's not likely. Anyone been through the same?

Edit to add: I'm at a normal weight (154cms and 56kg)but I've spent the past 6 years trying to go down to 50kg with no success, plus, the hunger pangs are just very uncomfortable, especially when they happen when I'm out of the house

Improved my diet but I'm still starving

I'm a 35F, 153cm, 56kg. I'm trying to get down to 50kg and lose body fat.

For over a decade I've had pangs of hunger where I just feel very weak, my hands are shaking and everything falls off of them including the food I'm trying to eat, I trip on everything, can't remember basic words like chair, TV, fridge. My mom and her parents have type 2 diabetes but I do blood tests every year and my fasting glucose is always slightly within normal range (like 72-73). I've also been on quetiapine for over a decade, could it be the quetiapine causing this? My psychiatrist thinks it's not likely. Anyone been through the same? Anything I'm not doing that could improve my hunger?

Certidão permanente - é obrigatório renovar?

A certidão permanente da minha casa está a expirar e já recebi uns 3 emails + 1 sms a relembrar-me que a certidão está a expirar e a indicar como devo renová-la. É obrigatório renovar a certidão? Eu não vou vender a casa, nem trocar o CH, não estou a ver nenhuma situação num futuro próximo em que precise da certidão mas dada a insistência, fico a pensar se me está a escapar alguma coisa.

Is "Who Is Maud Dixon" a good book?

"Who Is Maud Dixon?" peaked my interest but I've been reading conflicting reviews about it. The story seems right up my alley - I love stories that depict the publishing industry, and hidden identities, and unhinged female characters. However I tend to disliked twists that come out of left field and characters acting in ways that defy reason just to serve the plot (an example of this is "None Of This Is True" by Lisa Jewell, I absolutely hated this book). I also dislike bad writing and poor revision - some books have way too many typos and grammar mistakes (like "No One Saw A Thing" by Andrea Mara and "Let Me Lie" by Claire Mackintosh). I really liked "Julie Chan Is Dead" by Liann Zhang, "Daisy Darker" and "Beautiful Ugly" by Alice Feeney and everything by Riley Sager. Both Alice Feeney and Riley Sager can go a bit over the top with the twists but I enjoy their writing and find their books very atmospheric. On "Julie Chan Is Dead" I felt like the author was just going all in and turning the unhingedness up to the max and I loved that. Considering this, do you think I would enjoy "Who Is Maud Dixon?"

Writing to your strengths vs writing the stories you want to tell

I guess this is a bit of discussion and a bit of looking for advice.

There was a post here a while back about writing to your strengths. I've always been driven to write emotionally heavy stories, but I found out through a bit of experimenting that I'm definitely someone who has a lighter, more humorous voice. Writing witty and funny simply comes natural to me. Yet, I have some stories in me that I really want to tell and that are definitely more in the realm of "sob stories". A lighthearted voice most definitely won't suit these stories, I thought about this long and hard and I'm convinced that my "natural tone" simply doesn't serve the plot and the characters I want to create in those manuscripts.

But I'm really struggling to hit the right tone and my writing feels kind of stiff to me. In my latest project I have two POV characters and one of them is all doom and gloom. They get a personal arc where they're able to be at peace with some of the things that made them bitter in the first place, but even after that they're nowhere near what I would call cheerful, and they still have close to zero sense of humor. Writing the sections with that character's POV was painful. The second POV character is more cheerful and very humorous. Writing the sections of this second POV character was just so much easier.

I have a couple more stories in me that I believe benefit from a more serious tone. Should I just keep at it, and keep practicing that voice until it becomes easier (is this even possible)? Find a way to make my natural voice work with those stories (I seriously have no idea how)? Write the stories I want to write and make peace with the fact that they'll never be good enough? Anyone who's been through the same who wants to share what worked for them?

How graphic really is Molka?

I've been hearing a lot about Molka by Monika Kim, and the premise sounds really interesting, but I know it has trigger warnings for sexual abuse. I'm very sensitive to topics of sexual violence. I can deal with "this character was the victim of abuse in the past" but I absolutely cannot deal with descriptions of it on the page. To everyone who's read the book - are the abuse scenes really graphic? Or is abused something that's just mentioned?

I love mystery/thriller books where you have a book within a book, but I can't find a lot of books like this. So far I've read:

- Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz: loved it, it's my favorite book with this trope

- Home Before Dark by Riley Sager: really good too, more horror but I enjoy horror as well

- The Woman In The Library by Sulari Gentill: loved the premise but I don't think it was well executed, I didn't really enjoy the writing

Does anyone have recommendations for other books like these? Thank you!

Does hair sunscreen do anything?

I have black hair but in the summer it tends to get brownish highlights which I really dislike. I'm going on a beach vacation soon and while I douse myself in sunscreen and always wear a hat the hat doesn't cover my entire hair and I don't always wear a hat when I'm in the water because I know I'll be swimming. I know there's sunscreen that's specific for hair but I'm not sure if it'll do anything. Is there any science on this? My main concern is keeping my hair from going lighter in color and also protecting the skin on my scalp when I'm in the water.

Thanks everyone in advance!
