Skoda Scala 1.5 TSI 6 speed manual

I have just placed a factory order for a new 1.5 Skoda Scala in a manual but have read about problems with kangarooing when changing gears on the older models, have Skoda fixed this with the Scala’s in 2026?

Skoda Scala number plate fixings

So after receiving my new Skoda Scala I noticed that the rear number plate fixings are quite far in from the outside edge with gives the plate a fair bit of flex.

I thought it was just mine that had this but after seeing these it seems that it’s just the way Skoda sets out the spacing on their rear plates.

Would this be a problem over time if left and cause damage to the paint work due to vibrations ?
I have seen some suggestions about using sticky pads but due to the curvature I don’t think it would hold and I also have a ceramic coating so I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t stick anyway.

It seems pretty odd that Skoda would opt for this type of spacing , am I just overthinking it and should I just leave it and forget about it ?

Skoda Scala 2026

Had a bit of a nightmare earlier and dropped a 10mm socket into the engine bay of my new Skoda Scala,

After realising it was actually trapped I quickly removed the plastic UnderTray removing 9 torx screws but didn’t realise that two of the screws were actually slightly longer with flat tips,
Unfortunately i didn’t remember exactly where the two longer screws came from.
I have managed to put it all back together and think I got it right but it’s annoying me not knowing exactly where they are supposed to go

Does anyone know where the two longer flat tipped screws are meant to go ?

The red arrows are where I put them as it seemed to make most sense,
Does this look right?

Skoda Scala 1.5 TSI DSG vs 1.5 manual - 2026

I’m going to be buying a new Skoda Scala and have decided on a 1.5 TSI engine.

Unfortunately trying to find a 1.5 TSI 6 speed manual in the UK is almost impossible and I’m only limited to the 1.0tsi,
However there are plenty of 1.5tsi in the automatic transmission to choose from.

I’ve never owned an automatic car before and have read varying opinions about reliability and cost of repairs etc.
But I have also heard many people say once they have owned an automatic car they would never go back to a manual again.

Any opinions or personal experience with these two different transmissions would be greatly appreciated.

Skoda Scala 1.0TSI 116bhp vs 1.5TSI manual

I’m interested to hear other people’s opinions on which engine is better and is more reliable over prolonged years of use.

I’ve read conflicting information online where some say the 1.0 116bhp is a more reliable simple engine and is generally cheaper for parts and much less complicated to work on due to being a 3 cylinder engine,

And others suggest the 1.5 TSI with 4 cylinders will have better longevity due a smoother running engine and with a manual transmission you will be putting less stress on the clutch as the engine has more power to go through the gears with ease and not having to heavily rely on the turbo,
But the ACT cylinder technology can add complications and generally requires a more specialist work if any problems arise in the future.

Unfortunately in the uk the 1.5 TSI in a manual is much less common compared to the 1.0116 bhp version.

I will be looking at the latest versions as I’m buying new 2026 registration

Any personal experiences or advice would be appreciated.

LifeShine Cerafuse

What’s the general opinion on the Autoglym LifeShine Cerafuse treatment that dealerships offer as an add on when buying a new car ?

I had it added on as a free extra when buying my new car,
However I had to have it redone because it had been applied so badly from the dealership .

I dropped my car off to be redone in the morning and was amazed when I had a phone call just 2 hours later to say that the work had been completed..

The LifeShine treatment is being sold for £399 and you get a nice autoglym Kit with everything you need to maintain your car, but for £399, 2 hours labour and a box of cleaning products that I can buy for £40-50 off eBay seems like a bit of a rip off to me .

Spare wheel

So I have just had to use the spare wheel on my Skoda Scala and have put the 16inch alloy wheel in the boot where the spare wheel normally fits,

Unfortunately when putting the foam insert with all the tool accessories back inside the wheel the boot floor doesn’t sit flush which seems like a bit of a bad design to me and wouldn’t be ideal if I we’re driving with a boot fully loaded.

It’s not a problem when the spare wheel is in place as it fits completely flush with the foam tool insert.

Has anyone else noticed this?
Do you think it’s worth getting rid of the foam insert and replacing with a tool bag instead?

New car day

After much deliberation of which car to get , I’m now a proud owner of a Scala SE edition 1.0 TSI 116bhp with a manual gearbox.

Looking forward to taking it out for a proper drive in the next few days

Skoda Scala vs Kamiq

I was just about to place an order for a new Skoda 1.0 TSI SEL edition 116bhp until I came across the Scala ,

I have read a few different reviews where people are saying the Scala is the better car ?
They look very similar inside are there any other differences?

What’s the general consensus on these two cars?

Skoda Kamiq SEL vs design edition

I’m just about to purchase a new Skoda Kamiq and had originally planned on getting the SEL trim but have just seen the Design edition for about £700 more .

What’s the main differences between these two ?
I can see that the seats are different and look more sporty and from memory I think others have mentioned they are less comfortable?

Any thought or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Skoda Kamiq 1.0 TSI 116 Bhp -2026

My wife and I are interested in buying a new Skoda Kamiq,
We have decided for our use ( mainly town driving and occasional motor way )
That the 1.0 TSI 116 bhp will provide enough power.

I recently tested the slightly older 2024 1.0 TSI 110bhp model and thought it went well, but a little noisy in the lower gears.
I have read that Škoda replaced this engine after 2024 and apparently it runs a little quieter with a bit more power?

Does anyone have any experience with these two different engines?

Subwoofer placement

I’m going to be adding a second SVS 3000 micro revolution subwoofer to my room in a few days time,
I have a few different placement options and was wondering what the general consensus was when positioning dual subs.

I currently have one to right in the first picture underneath the table and might put the second on the other side so both subs cover the back wall and flank both speakers,

Option 2 is to have subs in opposite corners of the room ( see picture 2)
Option 2 would require a wireless transmitter but I haven’t got any experience with this and don’t know how reliable these things are?
but i have read that placing subs in opposite corners yields the best results.

Any suggestions and opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Y-splitter cable for subwoofers

I’ve been using a subwoofer through my 2 channel amplifier and connect from the variable pre outs with a decent RCA cable to the Left and Right input on my subwoofer,

I’m want to run dual subs and SVS have advised me that I can just run a single RCA to each sub, I tried a single cable connection earlier and the bass felt noticeably weaker than having two cables into one sub,

If were to use a y-splitter cable into each sub would this have the same affect as having two into one sub ?

Subwoofer connection advice

I currently run a single subwoofer through my Hegel H400 2 channel amplifier with a set of shielded RCA cables from the Left and Right variable pre-out on the back of the amplifier,
I’m planning on adding a second sub to run a dual set up.

Would I have any problems if I were to run single cables from the Left and Right pre-out to each subs LFE input,
Making only a single wire connection to each sub from the variable Left and Right output?

Single SVS SB3000 Revolution vs dual 3000 micro Revolution

So I recently picked the new SVS SB3000 Revolution,
I use it in a mixed use setup through a 2 channel amplifier.

My room is 1600 cubic feet,
It’s a great sub but I can’t escape the feeling that it’s more bass than I actually need and when playing movies often end up turning it down.

I’ve only owned it for a couple of months and in hindsight wish I held off buying it and waited for the new micro revolution to be released instead.

I could easily hide the micro in my room and add a second one without taking up valuable space in my living room ( which is something I could never do with the SB3000 revolution due the cabinet size)
From what I’ve read the new micro revolution is a significant step up from the outgoing micro.

Has anyone had any experience with the new 3000 micro revolution?

Fixed logos on kids tv channels

I’ve recently subscribed to NOW tv and my have kids love watching all the cartoon channels on the entertainment package.

One thing that concerns me is all the fixed logo’s on the different channels,
Nickelodeon logo is the worst with a bright orange blob in the corner of the screen.
I have a Bravia 8mk2 and worry about burn in , am I being paranoid or is it a genuine concern?

Dacai Duster MK2 VS MK3

I’ve owned a Mk2 Dacai duster 1.3 TCe for over 6 years now and recently spent some time with the new 1.2 mild hybrid Duster and I came away feeling like the MK2 duster was overall a better car,

Yes the new duster has a better quality feel to the body work and the doors shut with a more sold thud,
But the 1.2 mild hybrid 3-cylinder engine felt weak and more noisy compared with my 1.3 4-cylinder engine and the new duster felt quite dark and claustrophobic inside with noticeably less visibility due to the higher windows.

Am i the only one who has had this experience driving a new duster?
