Tip of the day: Get rid of your projector's default launcher.

Tip of the day

Uninstall the launchers that come with the projectors and replace them with another one. The HTC Launcher spies on you; it has location and phone access permissions, and there's no way to disable it.

Remove all bloatware from your projector.

Using AFWall+ and PCAPdroid, I detected strange network activity.

Root - HY320 ROM Alliwava

Well, previously I made a post about successfully rooting the HY320, but my post was confusing and the ROM I used previously had some permission issues that prevented me from removing some bloatware, malware, and spyware. Now I've done the procedure on an Alliwava firmware, which allows me to do everything I want with root access, including removing everything unnecessary (like the calculator app and the Office reader).

Reduce the animation scale beyond 0.5x;

Reduce or increase the screen DPI via Termux;

Leave the system cleaner and free of spyware.

Let's go.

The rooting procedure isn't difficult, but I'm not good at explaining things, so I'll leave the rooted ROM for the HY320 here. All you need to do is install the ROM using the Phoenix Suite software.

Connect the projector to the power outlet and, using a USB A to USB A cable, connect it to the computer. Turn on the projector and simultaneously press the volume up button several times (the projector will turn on and then the projection light will turn off).

The computer will emit a connected device sound.

Now, with Phoenix Suite open, click on firmware and select the file:

HY320_user_public_en_E_F_weidong_OTA_2024-11-19-1632.img

A warning will appear; click YES and wait for the installation.

After the firmware finishes installing, you can disconnect the USB cable and turn on the projector.

You will see an Alliwava launcher with few options; here you will need to activate the default HTC launcher using some key combinations.

Take the remote control.

On the main screen, press this sequence:

MENU → UP → RIGHT → DOWN → LEFT

Done! Now you will have access to all applications.

On the first boot, open the Magisk application and install the application update, restart the system, open Magisk again and choose the standard installation option (recommended), restart the system again, and you're done! Your device is now rooted.

Now you can start uninstalling everything that isn't necessary.

Here's a list of system applications I uninstalled that didn't affect my usage:

com.mobisystems.office

com.softwinner.agingdragonbox

com.softwinner.dragonbox

com.softwinnerdragon.att

com.eshare.linedisplay.receiver

com.htc.hyk_test

com.hotack.hotackfeaturestest

com.android.calculator2

I strongly recommend installing another keyboard as well!

You can uninstall using Termux or through a file manager (I used MixPlorer).

If you want to use Termux, the command to check the package names is:

pm list packages

Using a file manager is faster!

In Termux you can change the window animation scale, transition, and duration by typing these commands:

su

settings put global window_animation_scale 0.30

settings put global transition_animation_scale 0.30

settings put global animator_duration_scale 0.30

If you have another version of the projector and are interested in rooting it but don't know how, please tell me the name and model and I will try to find the firmware to do it for you.

ROOT - HY320

Well, some time ago PhotoFast2413 posted a method for rooting the HY300 using Magisk, but the author didn't share the firmware with the modification. So, today I decided to do the procedure and I'm leaving the file for the Magcubic HY320 here.

In short, you will need the projector's firmware, whether it's the HY300, 320, or 350 version.

You will also need to have downloaded the following files:

allwinner_usb drivers PhoenixSuit imgRePacker Magisk

The complete tutorial is here on Reddit in the original post by the author PhotoFast2413.

Warning: If you want to use the ATVEXforAllwinner.zip module, I recommend installing Termux, SET Edit, or DPI Changer beforehand, as the DPI will be altered and the letters and icons will be small.

Note: To make it look like Android TV, you need to install the ATVEXforAllwinner.zip module.

I haven't tested the HDMI input, but the system itself is cleaner and smoother.

Bugs:

After installing the ATVEXforAllwinner.zip module, the Play Store and YouTube don't work. I believe this is due to a DPI change. If anyone knows what the default DPI is or how to fix this problem, please leave a comment below.

Android 17 Design

The battery and mobile/Wi-Fi icons did not receive the design change.

Deep cleaning for your cell phone.

Most people probably already know this, but this is the best app for cleaning up leftover files from uninstalled apps, including the cache. And the best part is, it works without root access, just using Shizuku.

Go to settings and search for "battery care" in the search bar, open the app and disable it. Done! The magic happened.
