Sweet Miss Pixi has just begun her first heat - I found a little brown dribble this morning. She’s 7 months old. For those of you with a female WFT, how long will this first heat last? We plan to get her spayed after this and closer to 1 year of age. When did you get your wee girls spayed? Has anyone done the hormone-sparing (hysterectomy only, not ovaries) spay?

Does anyone else have a WFT that isn’t a fan of going for a walk? Miss Pixi (7 mo) will hide under the bed when I get ready for a walk. She’ll walk for a bit and she’s allowed to sniff anything, but she won’t carry on unless the neighbour’s black lab can join us. She follows him like a shadow! If we’re walking without another dog, we resort to picking her up quite often.

She loves meeting new people and dogs, and generally sits and waits for them to come to her. Sometimes from 20+ meters away.

Pixi is happy to walk home, though - it’s the beginning and middle of the walks she could do without.

When did you get your WFT puppy spayed, and if you waited, when was her first heat? Miss Pixi is almost 6mo now.

We hope/plan to wait until our girl is around a year old to spay, and are looking into hormone sparing…still deciding, though.

How old was your puppy when you started to let it sleep on your bed? (If you’re okay with that. ) Miss Pixi likes to sneak in around the pillows these days…

She’s almost 6 months old and just a joy, now that teething is all done!

Sweet Miss Pixi has lost all of her baby shark teeth, and is growing a beautiful set of Big Girl teeth! The wounds on my hands and arms can finally heal 🩹😄🩹

Our previous WFT, Mr Sprocket, swallowed all but one of his. This girl spat them all out 😂🦷

…I guess this means I’m not allowed to use my iPad for a while…

We have a lovely little 15-week old Wire Fox Terrier girl. We live on a half-acre lot in BC, Canada. We have the beginnings of a flea problem, and I really don’t want to use those nasty chemicals on a tiny pup.

I follow a few holistic vets online: Dr Judy Morgan, Dr Peter Dobias, Dr Karen Becker, Dr Andrew Jones. They often recommend food supplements and natural sprays, or those ultrasonic tags. (I was consulting with a holistic vet locally, but she’s unavailable due to illness. I swear her help and advice is what enabled our previous WFT to live to over 17.)

Has anyone had luck with the holistic remedies? Right now we’re using a repellent spray with Neem oil. She gets combed daily (1-3x) and bathed every few days, and I’ve done a lot of laundry and vacuuming!
