How can Heaven and Hell exist at the same time?

Not looking for drama just a question that I can't come to find an acceptable conclusion to.

My question stems from the claim that Heaven is suppose to be perfect. No more sickness, sadness, cruelty, etc while Hell is suppose to be this place where the wicked or non-believers are sent for their sins.

But how can Heaven be perfect if someone you care about gets sent to Hell? Would it really be paradise if your mother, father, partner, or child was sent to the Pit?
