Filming outside, my camera is entirely white. I can’t bring the picture back unless I set shutter to 8000. What’s the issue?
Hello! Very new to all this, but my base understanding was to have my shutter set to double the number of my frame rate. However I seemingly can’t get anything to show up unless I drastically increase it. Can you help me understand?

Just got back from the cinema, seeing it on the big screen for the first time in 32 years.
It’s made me so nostalgic, emotional and wistful. Me and my mum were there 1993, and in spite of seeing it countless times since, seeing it again that big, and hearing those roars that loud, really do hit different. Just utterly breathtaking stuff. Still not over it.

Biting off more than I can chew with Lighting.
Currently in the midst of writing and planning my first short film, but it helps me to know what I’m able to achieve in terms of look and style. I know I’m my own worst critic, and I think that can be useful in small doses, but currently everything I’m trying in setting up a scene, I end up hating. Apparently lighting does not work at ALL how I thought it did. You can argue trying something and failing is all part of the learning process, and for sure I agree. I’m feeling frustrated by the fact that I don’t currently know what the fix is!
Main issue I’m having, in my mind it’s a dimly lit interior shot in a small room. I want to have some ambience with colour in the background, but the moment I introduce light to elevate my actor in the foreground, it casts onto the rest of the room, and the ambience becomes bleached.
Any useful videos or tips for an absolute beginner? I look for videos but they genuinely all seem more to be a paid promotion for another lighting company.

Made an Alien themed birthday for my partner today!
My partners favourite film is Alien, as so I themed her birthday this year around moments from it, and the games. Clues led her to audio logs located around the house, which each led to presents. I had an Alien tracker that beeped more in proximity to the presents and eventually led to the kitchen, where the codes she’d collected led to the six digit code to open the main present lockbox! Include some very cute alien plushies.
