Trying a new henna mixture method

So, until recently I've been mixing my pure henna with cream of tartar and room temp water.

Then I bought hibiscus powder and replaced the cream of tartar with that, but I didn't feel like the colour was bright red enough.

A month or so ago, another redditor mention making a year out of the hibiscus powder first, letting it cool to room temp, and using that to mix their henna.

I did that this evening, and will do my roots tomorrow.

I already notice the the mixture is a much deeper red when making the hibiscus tea. 🤞🏼

I'll keep you posted.

Ingredients used;

Indian Natural Hair Care : pure henna

Foothills Natural : hibiscus flower powder.

I used 10 grams of hibiscus powder and 160 ml of boiling water to make the tea.

I used 40 grams of pure henna and 1 teaspoon of cream of tartar.

After making the tea, and letting it cool to room temperature, I mixed it into the glass.bowl of henna powder / cream of tartar mixture. I added an additional 40 ml.pf room temperature water to get it to the correct consistency.

Covered my bowl, and am letting it stand on my counter.

Piercings and Tattoos since starting HRT

In 1987 I got my left earlobe pierced.

I started HRT in August 2024.

In July 2025, I got my first tattoo, and got my right ear pierced.

Since then, I now have 6 tattoos, and five additional piercings for a total of a nostril piercing, two in my left lobe, and three in my right lobe.

Did anyone else start getting way more piercings and tattoos AFTER starting HRT?

Hate having to stop shaving for a few days before going to electrolysis.

The title pretty much says it all.

I stop shaving my face 5 or 6 days prior to electrolysis. By the time electrolysis day arrives, all my hair is about 3 - 4 mm long, and is itchy as a mosquito bite.

I realize it's how the process works, and I'll be happy when it is over. But for now, it makes me a little crazy.

Indigo two steps to black.

Yesterday I did my roots. (Top pic) This morning I did my hair with indigo. I haven't had black hair in ages.

Did my roots today

I used 40 grams of pure henna, with 10 grams of hibiscus powder, and 200 ml or room temperature water. I mixed last night and left it on the counter overnight to release the dye.

This morning I washed my hair with clarifying shampoo. I allowed my hair completely dry before applying.

Covered my head in a plastic bag, a touque to hold the bag on, and did chores. After 6 hours I rinsed, and combed coconut oil while my hair was still wet as a leave in conditioner.

I live in Canada, and the henna brand I use is Indian Natural Hair Care, and the hibiscus power brand is Foothills Natural.

Added last Wednesday

I added two more piercings to my right ear last Wednesday.

I have three gold hoops in descending sizes that I plan to use when it's all healed up.
