I honestly get scared of maranaos
Don’t get me wrong, I know sensitive ni nga topic, but one case that has genuinely stayed in my mind for years is what happened to Daniel Lim who was a 17 years old that time studying in XU back in 2005-2006 sa Cagayan de Oro. I heard about this through my aunt, who was a lawyer and somehow close as a family friend sa victim, and every detail she told me was honestly disturbing enough nga up until now dili gyud nako malimtan.
From what I was told, Daniel was allegedly lured into meeting someone he trusted which was the maranao girl, only to end up being abducted. Later on, he was reportedly subjected to brutal abuse before his body was eventually found abandoned in Indahag. The condition he was found in was so horrifying nga even years later people who knew about the case still remember how traumatizing it was, not only because of what happened to him physically, but because of what his family had to go through after.
What makes this even darker is hearing that despite evidence and people knowing there were individuals allegedly involved, the family supposedly lived in fear after receiving serious threats, to the point nga pursuing justice became almost impossible. Imagine losing someone in such a brutal and terrifying way, then having to carry that pain while feeling powerless to fight back. Hangtod karon, Daniel Lim never got the justice he deserved, and stories like this remind me nga sometimes the truth doesn’t disappear because people forget… sometimes it disappears because people are too afraid to speak.
Rest in Peace Daniel Lim 🙏🏻
