Why do school districts and admin side with parents now more than they used to?

The amount of parent pleasing I've seen from the districts I've worked in is just insane. It's almost as if schools are afraid of parents. And it seems to cross party lines as I've taught in both very conservative areas and very liberal areas and it's true regardless. It's as if the child can do no wrong and the person to blame must be the teacher.

Have you noticed the same thing? What do you think has caused this shift and is it a permanent change? It makes parts of the job very difficult.

Millennials are the last generation in history that will be able to remember the pre-digital life

It's wild to me if you really think about it that millennials are the youngest people that can remember what life was like before. The technological changes that took place just between 1995-2010 are absolutely insane. In the not so distant future the vast majority of the population will have only known the digital life. I don't think it can be overstated just how much technology has fundamentally changed society and the way we live in the last 30 years.

Remember that window of time in the late 90s/early 00s when cell phones were becoming more common but you weren't "weird" yet if you didn't have one?

I got my first cell phone in 2001. Most of my friend group I believe had one by then but it wasn't too unusual yet if you still didn't. When did you get your first?

Where are we buying jeans that aren't the "stretch" kind?

Maybe I'm in the minority here but I can't stand most modern jeans. The ones blended with elastane/spandex. I like the old school 100% cotton jeans. I know they're still available but I'm wondering what's your favorite pair? No skinny jeans or baggy.

What's your opinion on most pants nowadays being blended with stretch?

I know over the last 10-15 years pants blended with the elastic/spandex material have become the default. I'm not usually a fan, especially the stretch blended jeans. I get making tighter fitting pants stretchy but I even see most straight leg and even relaxed fit pants now have stretch. I know there's lots of components into how pants feel beyond elasticity but I've noticed the stretch tends to make the pants feel kind of cheap vs if they otherwise didn't have it. Thoughts?

Developed constant hyperarousal after being untreated for 15 years, still stuck after treatment.

I dealt with untreated UARS for about 15 years, roughly ages 13-28. Progressively worsening symptoms, completely destroyed my body's stress/nervous system. I was still able to get deep sleep during this time but obviously the UARS was negatively impacting my sleep and how I felt. I finally got treatment, which involved surgery and subsequent sleep studies show that it is 100% treated so that is no longer the issue. Plus I did not have this hyperarousal issue for most of my time dealing with UARS. It only developed few months before I got surgery. It's like my brain finally reached a tipping point and even though I got treatment it didn't matter. Basically what the problem is is my brain/body is stuck in almost 24/7 hyperarousal. Can't physically or mentally relax. The only time it goes away is I will occasionally crash hard in the middle of the day but then by evening time my system has revved back up. Although I don't have any traditional signs of hyperarousal such as increased heart rate or feeling an adrenaline surge. It's like it's a very subtle physiological shift. Sleep is incredibly light and non restorative as a result. Still have not had the chance to heal from the 15 years of sleep apnea damage. I am continuing to get worse as the months go by because my body is not getting good sleep. I have tried so many medications and have had benefits from none of them. Mirtazapine, gabapentin, trazodone, belsomra, ramelteon (a circadian drug), wellbutrin, beta blocker, CBD, and others I'm not remembering rn. Many Traditional relaxation methods do nothing. Even if I work myself out physically and push myself it doesn't help. Certain things will make my system feel even more restless but removing them doesn't fix it. An orgasm is overstimulating for my system, a surgary drink too late in the day will rile up my system, I've tried a circadian clock bright lamp and that over stressed my body. Looking at screens too much can overstimulate my sensitive brain but removing them doesn't fix me. Anything more than just a tiny amount of caffeine in the morning makes my sleep worse for that night. Certain supplements make me worse, especially ones that seem to target GABA/glutamate such as theanine and taurine. Other ones that are supposed to relax such as magnesium do nothing or stimulate me more. Bloodwork and other tests show that there is absolutely nothing wrong with me medically. I've even gone back to using a CPAP just in the very small chance that this isn't treated (even though I didn't have this issue for most of my time being untreated) and it didn't make a difference. My doctor has no clue what to do other than keep prescribing different medication's for me to try. 4 years in the state and I am completely nonfunctional.

I've been seeing the tucked in t-shirt look come back and I feel like I'm back in the 90s.

I graduated high school in 93 and most guys still tucked in T-shirts then. Usually we didn't wear a belt but that was just the style. Then sometime in the late 90s/2000s the style shifted and young guys stopped tucking in t-shirts and it became the "dad style". Probably for a good 20+ years.
But in the large city I live in I've been seeing tons of younger guys rocking a T-shirt tucked into jeans/pants and I'm back to thinking it looks good.

I know this sub is stuck in 2011 in many ways and there's lots of people, especially millennials, who hate this look but what are your thoughts?

Remember when tucking in t-shirts went from being normal to dorky?

I graduated high school in 92 and remember most guys back then tucked in T-shirts. Usually no belt. Then sometime in the late 90s/2000s young guys stopped doing it and it became the Dad style. Anyone else remember this shift?
