Is this worth getting checked out?

For context, I have been having ongoing issues around diaphragm/sternum for the last 2 years which i described as a squeezing or pressure feeling like someone was pushing there thumb into my chest but was told it was a gastro thing so have done all those tests and nothing has come back and also had heart checked but nothing there either so told just anxiety.

I thought maybe its a diaphragm spasm or tightness or lack of rib cage expansion due to feeling like i cant get proper deep breaths in or out and have winged scapular and very tight abdomen muscles.

ANYWAY, lost weight recently and released I have a slight dip but is pretty tiny so wouldn’t think its pectus excavatum based on how it looks however i also have quite heavy boobs which make it hard to really tell and given my symptoms i thought maybe i should consider asking to get it checked but don’t want to unless it’s worth it as feel bad for getting all these tests if it’s anxiety or bad posture aha.

I also have this X-ray of my chest from c6 years ago for a different issue (before i had any of current symptoms) but am unsure whether it suggests pectus excavatum or normal.

Has anyone whose hypermobile has led to constipation got any exercises that help?

I have an extremely tight pelvic floor and chronic core bracing (abdominals literally will not relax anymore) due to hyper mobility and now have slow gut transit time and constipation. I have not found the usual breathing or yoga stretches to do much due to having hyper mobile hips and am wondering if anyone else has experienced similar and found anything to help relax core and pelvic floor? Or which other muscles should be strengthened to reduce workload on these areas?

Thank you + Also ive done tests/fodmap diets so just asking specifclly for working on these areas rather than constipation advice :)

What would you have appreciated at Christmas whilst homeless/vunerably housed?

Hope this is okay to post here.

I work at a day centre with homeless/vulnerably housed/complex needs individuals in the UK, mostly men as they are seen as least high risk and get less support (UK). I honestly love it, mainly because the guys are all so nice and respectful and a laugh and just had it rough in life. Anyway, I know its a while away but I was trying to think if there’s anything I could do to make them know people do care rather than ‘bottom of the dog pile’ outcasts as society can treat them and was wondering if raising some money to put towards Christmas gifts would be nice but couldn’t think what would be a nice enough gift to spend money on/would be wanted and whether it would be appreciated or not as some people might find it a bit insensitive or stupid or something.

So just wondering, to those who are or have been homeless, beyond necessities, would you have appreciated a small Christmas gift (max £10/15$) and if so, what? Not just care packages of socks and stuff as they get those via the centre already and we hand out food so would want it to be really nice chocolates if it was food not just cheap stuff they get donated already. There are a range of guys from all different backgrounds, ages, current life situations so quite hard to think what would suit everyone.

Any thoughts?

Galia melon?

Has anyone got anecdotal evidence for whether galia melon is a trigger? Canteloupe and honeydew is quite low fodmap and it’s similar, but equally I know that doesn’t guarantee anything!

Is this the lorezopam?

Ive been reducing lorezopam (again) which i took for sleep only and going back on new sleep meds (daridorexant) but since i went back on it after getting off it for 2 months, ive started having issues with breathing, i am just not breathing enough and my muscles/body goes weak and floppy, as if im extremely tired and docile or sleeping.
Trying to focus on breathing better just leads me to hyperventilate/feel like im suffocating + extremely anxious so i feel trapped between the two states it’s driving me insane.

I am unsure if the too slow breathing is 1. Lorezopam 2. Lorezopam withdrawal 3. Indirect side effect from taking lorezopam at night and poor sleep quality. 4. Daridorexant 5. Linked to PTSD/Depression issues i have or something else health related i need to get checked out

It’s better when I’m actively moving about or preoccupied with a task that i am moving or talking/active but the second i slow down eg eating/reading/sitting down at desk, the intense weakness overcomes me and my muscles start going all floppy and i have to lie down immediately its so intense. The only time ive had this before was when i did mediation, i would sometimes get in this state after which i think is due to the focus and change in breathing. I also have a similar thing were im apparently not blinking enough/glassy eyes, it’s like im dissociated or something. But maybe thats it actually as brain is very blank too. It’s just the weakness is the most intense symtpom that others hopefully will be able to say they have experienced or not to help me work out what’s causing it.

As ive said before, ive not had any help with withdrawing so i over analyse everything which probably doesnt help but i am so fed up with my life being a constant contemplation of what is helping vs harming me and no advice about it :/

Thanks for reading

Sedation for gastroscopy or not?

Got my endoscopy/gastroscopy tomorrow and wanted some advice whether sedation is the way to go or if it’s possible to do it without (not regret it every second of the procedure). I’ve had many NG (nasal gastric) tubes passed before and am fine with them so if it’s similar to that I’ll be fine but obviously this is through the mouth and somewhat bigger!

Thank you!

Eye drop shelf life

I have very dry eyes from medications as well as light sensitivity and not blinking lol and have got back into using eye drops as my optiction said my tears were disintegrating almost immediately but i only just found out that eye drops have a shelf life??? Idk if im thick or what but ive been using a bottle from 2024 and many others as have a few cause I constantly loose them + forget to use them. I also used my dad’s single dose ones and apparently they should be used within 12 hours? I was using it over like 3 months as kept loosing and finding oops.

The question is, is it actually important to follow this 30 day/12hours shel life or is it like skincare and were it’s gunna start to be less effective but doesn’t immediately burn your skin one day after the use by dates.

Advice on lorezopam as sleeping aid and daridorexant side effects.

BACKGROUND

I have insomnia/sleeping issues (going to sleep only) that begin when I stopped taking olanzapine and since 2023 my GP has been giving me lorezopam which I had originally prescribed by mental health team for helping when distressed but never took as didn’t really feel much benefit

I have asked for alternatives but other than melatonin and promethazine they have said there are none and have been fine giving it to me. I’ve rarely taken more than 1mg the whole time but definitely notice it’s far less effective at making me stop thinking to be able to sleep.

Never felt addicted in a craving sense but am dependant and cannot sleep without it unless I take a (fairly strong) sedative alternative. I just feel like a zombie and as if my brain is fried aha.

Anyway, to the point.

I finally got prescribed daridorexant and began taking 25mg but woke a lot in the night so up to 50mg and quickly reduced lorezopam to the point of not taking it. Sleep has since been mostly okay, still don’t get sleepy or able to sleep without this medication but can’t complain too much. However I became very depressed/low mood/anhedonia and eventually decided that maybe it was the daridorexant. Felt a bit better since but not great, very up and down. Now I’m considering if maybe it was the fact I rapidly stopped the lorezopam. Didn’t get physical symptoms that I noticed but as taking at night it’s a little hard to know how much it has been effecting me in the day/compare it to daridorexant.

SUMMARY

Basically, could either taking daridorexant or 1mg lorezopam withdrawl cause very low mood and complete lack of interest in everything?

What to expect if taking Lorazepam/Ativan for sleep only

Has anyone here used lorezopam for sleep/at night only? And can tell me about what side effects they experienced when doing so and when withdrawing? I’m struggling to tell whether it’s effecting me during the day in anyway even if not taking it then and other than inability to sleep, I’m unsure what may be withdrawal vs is other unrelated issues.

(Taking just 1mg every night for 3ish years if relevant btw)

Hydrating serum for very sensitive skin!

I’m quite lucky with my skin and went years not even moisturising because it was fine and i was lazy lol + also didn’t know about the whole sun damage and preventative aspects so have since started wearing suncream and using retinol and removing daily with micella water. But i think its now a little dehydrated (maybe dry idk aha) and as i cant afford using so much moisturiser and hate the feel of thick moisturisers, I would like to add a serum focused on hydrating.

I struggle so much with reacting to products and am so tired of wasting money when before I didn’t spend a penny so please advice if you can!

Cetaphil daily moisturiser
Dr althea barrier & relief creams
A very weak cereve retinol
Instree Suncream
Garnerier sensitive cleansing micella water

I react to literally all cleansers and most scents and just anything stripping but haven’t had issues with suncreams or the botanical stuff in Dr althea creams. The serums I’ve tried - Skin1004 Centella, Purito, Superdrug own brand and Simple serum all have caused issues but not sure exactly why to know what to avoid. I’m also on a very low budget but may be able to try in store first and splash out if it’s worth it aha

I’m thinking the E45 hydrating serum as that seems a safe bet with sensitivity even if not the nicest option out there.

HELP! Snack list and meal plan!

Has anyone got a copy of an NHS/UK snack list and/or meal plan? I’m in recovery and not refeeding or anything but have really struggled with meal choices and decisions and can’t find my old snack/meal rotation’s and meal plans from IP/CAMHs. I just need something super clear right now so I don’t spent hours trying to decide aha.

Advice pre colonic transit study please

Colonic transit study

I’m having a transit test done in a few weeks and have a few questions over what I can/can’t do during the run up to it.

  1. I take ADHD stimulant medication which massively helps with my constipation if I take it in the AM before food/water. Obviously not a stimulant laxative per se but should I mention I take it/reduce dose in the run up/stop it entirely (can’t really do this though). How should I handle it at least?

  2. I currently eat very low fibre and small repetitive meals to help manage how uncomfortable it gets, should I continue this or eat ‘normally’.

  3. I take Fybocalm daily which helps alongside the adhd meds, I’m planning to stop this even though not a laxative but just double checking that’s correct to do.

  4. What about things like gut massages and other methods I use to try reduce the constipation? Should I cut them out too?

  5. Do I change any of this only when I start the radioactive pills or a few days before too?

Thanks so much :)))
