Sheldon Cooper [BBT] vs. Alan Garner [Hangover Series]

Both move in together, with just each other. First one to move out loses. Winner gets a Nobel prize and the accompanying million-dollar reward.

"Iberjutlin", a dark comedy TV pilot.

I finished this pilot draft week or two ago. My prospects for ever getting this produced are practically nil, but I thought I'd share it for feedback anyway.

It's about a naive children's show mascot who tries to apply preschool logic to solve her friends' serious adult problems, in pursuit of wish-granting "virtue stars". Largely inspired by things like Wonder Showzen, Avenue Q and Robot Chicken.

You guys think a Bentley spinoff would be cool?

Bentley's been on an upward trajectory the entire series.

In Sly 1 he's just a face in the corner, only playable during one brief hacking mission.

In Sly 2, he's fully playable, and gets a solo mission to free Sly.

In Sly 3, gets new abilities that put him more on par with Sly in versatility, an entire romantic subplot, and a brief arc of him questioning his value as a "sidekick".

In Sly 4, his relationship with Penelope drives the storyline, and Sly disappears at the end.

Perhaps the next step is to have an entirely Bentley-centered game, where he pursues his own goals instead of Sly's.

A hyper urban utopia

A future where rural and suburban life are gone.

Everybody lives in hyper-urban megastructures, hundreds of thousands of people per square mile. The rest of the world is reclaimed by nature with just maglev lines running through to connect the cities.

What happens to animals we don't eat?

If humans stopped eating meat, would that actually be good for the cows and chickens?

I mean sure, the meat industry is pretty terrible to them, but animals that humans don't eat or farm or use, aren't doing too well either. For example, we don't commonly eat lions, rhinos or elephants, yet those are being killed off by poachers. In fact, wild cows are extinct too. The only ones that still exist are on farms.

Chickens and pigs may be viable as pets, but Texas longhorns definitely aren't; they're too big and too aggressive.

To some extent, being delicious to humans may actually be one of the most successful evolutionary traits an animal can have. We're in no danger of running out of chickens or cows any time soon, and I'm sure a well-fed animal on a free-range farm is happier than one who has to fight for food in the jungle or savannah or wherever we domesticated them from, only to end up being eaten by something anyway. Wild predators don't use the clean, sharp knives like we do for slaughter.

Wanting to read more.

I want to read more, I know that reading more would make me a better writer, and I've found literature that I like (currently working through Discworld). But my executive dysfunction makes it hard to put electronics aside, then once I start reading it's hard to focus on it for very long.

Demeter Tower Rises

The third of a thirteen-tower base/village complex

Demeter, the "Earth Mother", was an Olympian daughter of Kronos, worshipped by the Greeks as their goddess of agriculture and the harvest. Agriculture being crux of any civilization, gaining favor with Demeter meant bountiful food to feed your family and fellow citizens.

Demeter was also believed to be the cause of seasons: When Demeter's daughter Persephone joined her husband Hades in the underworld, Demeter's grief plunges the world into winters. Upon Persephone's return, Demeter becomes happy and the world enters spring.

Demeter's tower houses my farmers, and is made of the products of the harvest: Bamboo, honeycomb, wheat and pumpkins.

Screenwriting in Louisiana?

I've been writing screenplays for a while, mainly comedy pilots, and I've had other writers tell me that my writing is really good, and that I should look for an agent and possibly get it produced.

I don't really know where to go about finding an agent for screenplay without investing too much money in the process.

On top of that, I know a lot of the commercial movie and TV industry is in Los Angeles. I live in Baton Rouge and could never see myself moving too far from my family, especially for such a volatile career pursuit. Are there indie houses in Louisiana or that'd allow remote correspondence?

An academic dystopia.

Imagine a world that's just school, forever.

From birth, you're raised by student volunteers, not knowing who your biological mother and father were.

At age four, you're fitted for a uniform (pants for boys, skirts for girls, no exceptions), and start attending classes. From then on, your value as a person depends on your GPA, a score that here is influenced by not only your academic performance, but also your rule adherence, your "volunteer" work, and your social standing amongst other students. You can lose points because you failed a test, because the popular girl told a lie about you, or because your English teacher overheard you split an infinitive when talking to your friends at lunch. Besides losing GPA points, punishments for infractions include detention, writing lines, or corporal punishment, depending on what you did and the faculty's discretion.

The year you turn eighteen, and every fourth year after that, you join the pool of students to have their GPA audited. Amongst those audited in a given year, the top quartile of male and female students "graduate" in a big ceremony, after which they serve time as a breeder of the next generation before finally being sorted into administrative or teaching roles. The bottom quartile of student are "dropped out", meaning they're indentured into grueling manual labor for life to keep the school working. The rest remain students. Either way, nobody ever leaves the school. They say it's not safe. Be grateful, though. Education is a privilege.

If you do have any gripes, though - dissenting thoughts about freedom, about the outside, about rights - take it up with the guidance counselor. They're the only person in school not required to report you for dissent, and their job is to gently guide you back towards compliance.

I've been playing sine 2012 and I used to do political roleplay stuff on a server and had friends there, but I haven't done that kind of thing in years.

It'd be nice to experience having virtual minecraft friends again. I've been getting better at survival building, so if you wanna build something together on a server that'd be great.

I noticed the Survial For All server requires version 1.21.11, so I tried switching back to that to join, but for some reason the Java virtual machine fails when I try to launch.
