Dad threatning to divorce mom

I need some honest advice from both an Islamic and moral perspective because this situation really affected me.

My parents had a heated argument at home. The argument started over my father’s side of the family. We live abroad while his family lives back home, but somehow the conversation escalated.

My mother said to my father something like, “Why can’t you give me the same respect you give your mother?” My father replied, “I don’t respect you and I won’t.” My mother started crying and came to my room upset.

Then my father mocked her crying and called them “crocodile tears” and said she just wants attention. My mother then replied that his mother also cries for attention when she calls him complaining about the other siblings. After that, my father got extremely angry and threatened divorce, saying if she said another word about his mother then “3 words are enough” and everything would be over.

That really triggered me because from my perspective the original argument wasn’t even something huge. I tried staying calm at first and asked both of them what happened. Apparently my mother had earlier said that my father’s brothers’ kids keep stressing out his elderly mother by constantly complaining to her, and she also said that his mother seems to favor the other siblings more than him.

When I talked to my father, I told him that if he thinks my mother crying is “attention seeking,” then why does it hurt him so much when someone says the same thing about his own mother? He started shouting at me too, and I completely lost my temper for the first time in my life.

I told him he can’t just threaten my mother with divorce and disrespect her like that. I said my mother isn’t alone and that it hurts us too when he says things like that to her. The argument got extremely loud and we were both yelling at each other. I even told him to leave the house in anger. Neighbors probably heard everything.

Now I’m conflicted. I know I crossed limits by shouting at my father and going head-to-head with him, and I regret losing control. But at the same time, hearing him insult my mother and threaten divorce over an argument that didn’t seem that serious made me angry beyond belief.

Was I wrong for stepping in and taking my mother’s side? From an Islamic and moral perspective, how should I have handled this situation better?

DUI/ Operations causing bodily harm Ontario

Hello,

One if my friends friend’s 20yo was charged first time no previous criminal record with Operation causing bodily harm CC 320. 14(2), Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b),. He was planning to get married to his girlfriend and get PR in Ontario. Is he gonna get deported? If he gets the best lawyer in all of Ontario does he have a chance to get the charges reduced to an extent that it won’t effect his immigration and Job and he won’t get a criminal record?

What happened was he and his 3 passenger friends were out driving at night and got into a single vehicle accident. One of the friend got pretty badly injured and got 20+ stitches on his face nose and head non life threatening injuries. All were moved to hospital in ambulance and cops took drivers Breathalyzer after 3 hrs of him being unconscious which came to 60mg first and then after 20 mins came to 80mg and possibly took his blood test aswell. All his friends are planning to potentially sue his insurance to get compensation. Is he fucked up big time? What steps should he take now? What impact could a lawyer make? And what is the best lawyer in Ontario for this specific situation?
