I always read about MILs getting worse when we are pregnant: any opposite experience?

Hi, my MIL seemed fine when I met her, then she became weird when her son and I decided to live together, and worse when we got married.

She expected to control our wedding and we put her in her place quite firmly.

She has always been subtle or has made comments about things she disliked when my husband was not in the room, and has shown favoritism towards SIL and her family in several occasions.

She made some comments in the past that gave me the impression that she would not have been enthusiastic if we had children. After 5 years of trying we finally got pregnant via IVF.

When we told her she was so happy, but not invasive.

We sent her a picture of the last ultrasound and she was overjoyed.

She called me today to check on me (never done it in 15 years).

She said: " I am so glad that everything is going well. Are you going to find soon if it is a boy or a girl? Not that it really matters, what matters is that baby is healthy. It's great that new tests and ultrasound machines can tell you so many things, things have vastly improved since my time".

Is she a new woman? Is her happy about a second grandchild (the older one, SIL's son, is a teenager now)? Has she been replaced by aliens? Is this a strategy to make us feel that she is ok now?

I am wondering if someone else had similar experiences, and what happened after baby was born!

No embryo at 6w4d...but it was there at 8w3d

I was so worried that it was a blighted ovum...but actually little embryo and its heartbeat are doing OK 🥰🥰

Last two weeks were terrible, but now I feel happier than ever 🩷🍀

No embryonic pole visible

Today I had my first ultrasound.

I am at 6w4d (transfer on 29 of July).

There was a 17 mm gestational sac with a yolk sac, with no embryonic pole currently visible.

My obgyn says the embryo might have actually implanted a bit late and that I actually am at 5w5d.

I will have to repeat my ultrasound on the 7th of September.

But now I am convinced it's a blighted ovum.

Any similar stories with a happy ending?

Beta at 9dpdt are 166 mIU/ml 🥳

My Obgyn is so happy, and we are too!

This is from the only egg we were able to retrieve.

Let's hope that the second beta on Monday is good too!!! 🤞🤞🤞

I realise I did not write the title properly, it's 9dp5dt

Did your JustnoMILs had bad reactions to the announcement of your pregnancy

After 5 years of trying, through IVF, I finally got pregnant.

It's very early and fresh, and I am cautious and worried, but still enjoying the moment.

If we are lucky enough to carry on with this pregnancy and at some point tell his mother, I foresee that she won't be happy.

She did not want my husband to get married. He should have been her substitute husband and an atm for his nephew (son of her golden child daughter).

I actually hope she shows her worst behaviour so that I can get rid of her for a very long time. My husband is already aware that I don't think she will be happy, and he is inclined to think she might say something rude and stupid.

So now, just to laugh together and be even more prepared to her tantrums: what were the worst, craziest reactions your MILs had when they learnt that you were pregnant?

Especially those who were totally against you having children.

7dp5dt, faint but it's there

It's 4 in the morning where I am, but I am almost tempted to wake up my husband and show him the test! I am not the only one who sees the line, right?

It's the very first positive I ever got in 5 years! 🤩

ER produced one egg...it was fertilised...and tomorrow I'll have my transfer

I am 42, good AMH for my age (1.580), but apparently, my follicles won't cooperate that much.

They tend to develop asyncronically, so I had a very huge one (26 mm!), which was empty, and others that were just 15 mm.

That's why we only got an egg.

Still, we made it to transfer.

Please send me good vibes for tomorrow and for implantation!!! 🍀

And if someone else in this situation got pregnant, please tell me your story 🥰

My MIL doesn't like that I have longer pto than my husband

She brings this up whenever she calls him.

"Are you tired? Well, but your wife is on holiday right now, isn't she?"

Like if me being on holiday or not could change my husband's pto. She tries all the possible strategies to drive a wedge between dh and I.

Luckily he is happily oblivious to her attempts.

He also told her that she tends to underestimate my job, and that I am still busy with some projects (which I actually am).

Getting cats helped me with stress related eating

I know it sounds weird.

But when I come back home from work, even if I am really stressed (something that in the past always triggered my carbs craving), I spend half an hour with my cats on the sofa.

Cuddling them relaxes me, and that stress is way reduced.

I am not saying that it made losing weight easy peasy, I am a short woman in my forties, so my tdee is low.

And I am insulin resistant.

Of course, I am still counting my macros. Of course, there are days where I overeat, but I have lost about 80 pounds, and my cats definitely helped me for a part of it.
