Standing When A Woman Enters/Leaves A Room?

So, I like to think I’m fairly well mannered, I never shake someone’s hand sitting down, always serve myself last, the “basics” as I perceive them, but this is one I’ve always wondered;

Those who do, how do you manage it in a modern setting?

On a date it seems fairly easy to manage as you’re only dealing with one person, however in a casual setting at someone’s house, taking place across different rooms, it feels like I’d be constantly up and down like a Westlife tribute act 😂

It’s something I really like the idea of, but wonder if it’s seen as culturally outdated, or seen as very performative if done too much.

Are you electing to only using it in a more formal setting? I’m genuinely curious as to how a modern gentleman navigates this.

U1 DJ36 From Jason007

My first “rep”, I wanted something dressy but not flashy, so I went with dome bezel and oyster bracelet. I’m very happy, feels sufficiently “premium”, I’ve no intention of spending 10x the amount on a VSF.

Next purchase will likely be a gold 36 DD “Tony Soprano” 😂

Best rep for smooth bezel DateJust?

Long story short, I’m just not a fan of the fluted bezel.

Looking for a rep something AAA or U1, I’ve looked on the usual sellers like Jason007 or Michael Travis, but couldn’t find it on either.

Addiesdive 36mm “Sub”: £30 beater.

So I have fairly small wrists (6.5in), and whilst I do have 41-42mm watches and can get away with it, sometimes they do wear quite large on me. With that in mind, I was looking for something with more classical proportions, and I found this Addiesdive AW25902.

So yes, technically it does come from their Women’s section, it wears really well for me, and scratches the itch I have to get a rep submariner, for now at least. I could see people putting it into a nato strap for a Sean Connery Bond reference.

The Positives:

Great size, thin and light. Looks nice without coming across as flashy. Looks much better in person than the pics on their website, even my pics don’t do it justice.

Lume is reliably bright, though the dial and bezel are different colours.

Cost me £30, that was new on eBay.

The Downsides;

I’m not a fan of dates on watches, but hey ho. It is a quartz movement rather than an automatic, at the very least it’s completely silent.

Overall, I would recommend to anyone with a smaller wrist looking for a decent watch that goes with almost any outfit, and looks more proportionate to your wrist than a full-size sub.

Anyone Find A Similar NATO Strap?

We all admit the watch itself is so oversized that nobody wants it, but I’d like to put the strap on a black diver. I’ve trawled for a simple nato strap with the grey and beige stripe, but can’t find one. Any help appreciated.

UK Heat: Daytime Windows Closed Or Open?

So the conventional wisdom is to keep windows closed during the day, to keep the hot air out. However, sitting in a room in stifling heat with the windows shut (curtains closed) does seem somewhat counter intuitive.

Do you keep your windows closed? Do you feel the benefit? Or do you have them open 24/7 like me?
