How do you create this dotted risograph/stamp effect in illustrator or photoshop without any paid plugins?

Is it possible to get more dynamic stroke, such as those in the 2nd image, in Illustrator?

Are there any (preferably free) plugins or techniques that allow a more blotchy style of stroke width, but also not overboard with fake textures. Thank you

Advice on rebuilding rechargeable battery pack for an IBM Thinkpad 380ED?

Has anyone done this before? If so, how? Thank you

How should I go about rebuilding this battery pack?

From a 90’s Thinkpad laptop. It doesn’t hold a charge anymore so I am thinking to solder in new cells, but I have not worked with batteries before so seeking advice. Thanks

Is it possible to rebuild this battery pack, and how would I solder new cells without causing a fire hazard?

This battery is from a 90’s IBM Thinkpad 380 laptop. It obviously does not hold a charge anymore, I have (carefully) cracked open the plastic housing and thinking to replace these cells with off the shelf parts. How should I approach this? Thanks

Where is this spring supposed to go on a Thinkpad 380ED?

Found this spring rattling inside the internals, but I can’t seem to find where it’s supposed to go. Any advice would be appreciated.

What went wrong?

I see graphic design from the 70s-80s which have this extremely uniform, united feel with typography and graphics that are bold. Even packaging as insignificant as a bottle of oil was well designed. Compare this to modern day graphic design which often just looks like someone slapped a bunch of text in microsoft powerpoint and called it a day.

More importantly, what techniques and philosophy were employed in this era that created this uniform and united feel?

Is it possible to vectorise a raster image by making it a colour halftone that is indistinguishable from a distance?

For large scale advertisements, posters, etc, it would be more appealing for it to be a colour halftone pattern instead of pixels up close.

Does anyone know the names of 70’s/80’s artists who had this illustration style? (And no, I am NOT using this information for ai prompts. Trying to create a moodboard for inspiration)

All of these are from 1980s national geographic magazines

Hermes Baby and Smith Corona Skyriter

The Hermes Baby feels much sturdier and has a smoother type action compared to the skyriter, and overall feels better quality.
