/uj Is there any actual reason to why people on SonicTwt don't just quit the franchise?
Like, they've been unsatisfied with the state of the franchise since either 2010 or 2013, which is longer than some people on this fanbase have been alive for fucks sake. Seriously, what the fuck are they still doing here? It's not like they're simply "critical" of the current direction of the franchise; they HATE the franchise nowadays.
Is it that hard to simply quit or at the very least stay on their corner enjoying whatever the fuck they even liked about the franchise the first place, while leaving those who do enjoy the current direcrion of the franchise in peace? Or do they just genuinely enjoy hating on EVERYTHING?
Some people are a bit more "hopeful" and are expecting Frontiers 2 to fix everything they hated about Frontiers 1, but...will it? I'm pretty sure Kishimoto stated that Frontiers is the blueprint for the franchise going forward, there won't be much big changes and the formula is still sticking around. If you hated Frontiers 1, I doubt you'll like Frontiers 2.
Dude, I love this panel so much. They're so cute together!
Happy 35th anniversary, Sonic!
This guy has been with me my whole life basically, and for a good reason.
It's my favorite franchise of all time, sticking with me through my best and worst. Can't express how much I owe Sonic for bringing us such amazing games, comics, movies, TV shows, characters, and so on.
It's great seeing it be so successful, nowadays, and I hope it'll grow even more as time goes on!
Rambling about Slendytubbies 1/Slendytubbies Classic.
Before its official release in December 12th 2012, we had two alphas of Slendytubbies that were leaked some time ago;
Starting with Alpha v0.5, dating November 15, 2012, Tinky Winky moved slower, as we originally couldn't run, and also had a really neat mechanic, in which, as he was creeping from afar, he'd retain his pre-infection face, but upon getting closer and entering his aggressive state, he'd switch to his infected face. Unfortunately, that didn't get into the final game even if the files of his pre-infection face are still present, and this didn't get incorporated on future entries either. He also acted a bit differently, as we originally had a health bar for how much time we looked at Tinky Winky in his aggressive state, and once we died, the game crashed. That being said, that doesn't change the fact he's still a non-threat, but i'll elaborate on that very soon.
Moving on to some other changes; there was no title screen, the flashlight had a much simpler design, the graphics had some notable differences, Noo Noo wasn't around spinning like crazy in the Teletubby Dome, Laa Laa's body didn't raise up, trees didn't fall, and the "Your Next" screamer was still around, but for some unknown reason wasn't present in the final game even if its file is still in the game, and would only return in Anniversary Edition. Finally, Alpha v1 dated November 22, 2012 added a title screen and a day option.
Now on to the final game with v1, in which the flashlight got its final design, Noo Noo was on the Teletubby Dome spinning like crazy, the "Your Next" screamer is gone", and we had the addition of the Dusk time period. Tinky Winky face switch mechanic was, as stated previously, unfortunately gone, alongside the introduction of a death screen. But, as also stated previously, he's a non threat, as the only way to get killed by him is through looking at him since he doesn't have a hitbox to kill upon physical contact, and alongside his AI being an overall fucking mess, you can literally rub yourself against him and, as long as your whole body isn't facing him, you're absolutely fine. With that in mind, you can literally jump on top of him, and since his AI is a fucking mess, he doesn't know what the fuck to do and will just start spinning like a Beyblade whom you can't jump off unless you quit the game. Without a proper enemy, the game is literally just a "spooky" walking simulator.
Anyway, keeping the MOSTLY upward trend, v2 beta added the mechanic of some trees falling in front of you, which, if Tinky Winky was an actual threat, this would be such a great addition that'd both add an extra challenge to the game, and also help you if you can get him stuck there for a moment to delay him, giving you some time to run away, being especially useful when he's at a higher speed, because the more custards you get, the faster he gets, to the point where by the end of the game he'll mostly be glued to your ass. But again, he's a non threat, so none of that matters. Finally, Laa Laa's body raises upon your first encounter with her. Something small, but still a nice detail that definitely gave a lot of dumb 2010s YouTubers a jumpscare.
Then comes Slendytubbies 2 with the Slendytubbies Classic map, in which Tinky Winky is FINALLY an actual threat, he can now kill you upon physical contact, and, with all the improvements in Slendytubbies 2's controls, i'd give us the definitive Slendytubbies 1 experience...except that, for whatever dumb reason, we just regressed back to beta v1, so trees don't fall again, Laa Laa's body doesn't raise up upon your first encounter with her. Not only that, but the "HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA" easter egg is also gone, and instead of spinning, Noo Noo just stands still cleaning the floor in front of him, and the Day and Dusk time periods are just gone.
But even more bizarre than that are the textures of the Teletubbies bodies, as, instead of using their Slendytubbies 1 textures, they mostly use their Slendytubbies 2 textures. I say "mostly" since we have stuff like Laa Laa and Po having their Slendytubbies 1 ears, while the rest of their body is from Slendytubbies 2, or Dipsy having his head from Slendytubbies 2, but his ears, antenna and body from Slendytubbies 1. Same shit also happens with TubbyCraft, with the difference that Dipsy's head and ears are from Slendytubbies 1, while his antenna and body are from Slendytubbies 2.
Speaking of TubbyCraft, that shit is a beast of itself, as not only are its textures are a mix of REALLY stretched textures from the alphas and final versions of Minecraft, but the whole map is a brute import of the whole Slendytubbies 1 recreation in Minecraft by the YouTube HEAL Pony (I once played this map with my dad btw). And when I mean the WHOLE map, I mean THE WHOLE MAP; all assets, trees, the Teletubby Dome and everything inside it, the Teletubbies' bodies, THE FUCKING VILLAGE BELOW THE MAP, EVERYTHING IS ONE SINGULAR MODEL THAT LOADS UP AT THE SAME TIME, making THIS SHIT the laggiest map in the whole ass game.
But not all hope is lost for a definitive Slendytubbies 1 experience, as after that we had Anniversary Edition, a full on remake of Slendytubbies 1 with HD and classic graphics, the correct textures, Tinky Winky still able to kill us, the "Your Next" screamer is back, all the time periods are back...BUUUUUUUT we're still stuck on v1, so no trees falling and no Laa Laa standing up, and we still have Slendytubbies 2 limitations, so no "HEYYEYAAEYAAAEYAEYAA" and no Noo Noo spinning. Not only that, but the classic graphics don't have the skybox, it's just a bland blue background and that's it, and the fog is just so much bigger.
Slendytubbies 3 didn't make things much better as it's just a 1:1 of the Slendytubbies Classic map of Slendytubbies 2 with all the issues it had there except Po's textures which are actually correct. It also yet again improves in the controls, having the best of the franchise in my opinion.
With all of those complaints in mind, those are all better ways to experience Slendytubbies 1 than the actual Slendytubbies 1 by the simple fact Tinky Winky can actually kill us. They're not ideal though, as they all lack content from beta v2 alongside their own share of baffling problems.
But hey? At least they're serviceable, unlike whatever the fuck the mobile version was doing with those Minecraft ass textures, which seriously...what the fuck were you thinking Sean? Phones weren't THAT weak in 2015, this isn't a particularly heavy game either, and it's not like downgrading the textures would make it run significantly faster, only a bit, so why even bother? And even then, YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO MAKE EVERYTHING LOOK LIKE MINECRAFT WHEN THIS ISN'T TUBBYCRAFT. To top it all off, the terrible fog is also present in the "HD" graphics, and turning is really heavy, making chases a lot more sluggish than they'd usually be.
In the end, there isn't a definitive way to play Slendytubbies 1, and while I wish Guardian Collection would give us that, i'm not putting my hopes too high.
On a more unrelated note, did y'all know the infecteds were originally called "Slendertubbies" at the time of Slendytubbies 1 and maybe Slendytubbies 2 as well? In the "help" section of Slendytubbies 1, which is a quick guide to the game, it says; "the objective is to collect all 10 telletuby custards without being caught by the slendertubby".
In the ZeoWorks forum around 2012-2014, Sean also called infected Tinky Winky "Slender Tinky", so I guess we could use that to differentiate phase 1 Tinky Winky from pre-infection Tinky Winky more easily.
Quick reminder that one of the screamers in Slendytubbies 2 has a Jewish Teletubbie, lmao.
Quick reminder that Tinky Winky literally can't kill you in Slendytubbies 1 (sort of).
Basically, he can only kill you if you look at him for too long and ONLY when you look at him, because he straight up doesn't have a hitbox that kills you when you touch him like he is in all subsequent game, thus, you can literally rub yourself against him because, as long as you're not looking at his face, you'll not die.
With that in mind, you can literally jump on top of him, and, since he's programmed to always face the player from his front, he'll end up lying on the ground, and not only that, but he'll also just start spinning like crazy with you on top of him and you can't jump off him unless you quit the game. The death upon eye contact mechanic also disappears when you do this, so again, you'll not die.
All this shit was definitely result of Sean poorly trying to replicate Slender's mechanics in Slender The Eight Pages, while not knowing what actually made it work by also having Tinky Winky chase you throught the map instead of having him randomly teleport in the corners of your line-of-sight like Slender, which makes the death upon eye contact mechanic obsolete, but he also doesn't have a hitbox that kills you upon touch, meaning that if you're not a dumb 2010s YouTuber who screams at literally everything and doesn't know what the fuck they're even doing, there is no challenge at all.
Not many stuff and definitely pretty childish picks, but anyway, here's the stuff I like 👍
Thank goodness I wasn't following this show from the start.
Now that the finale is out, I finally decided to give TADC a shot.
Pretty neat show overall, and I could almost say the same thing about the finale, since I liked a lot of stuff about it; Caine's redemption worked pretty well, I don't think it was rushed since he never seemed like a pure evil character, so I don't think he needed a full episode for his redemption, and what we got already delivered. I also loved Jax's flashbacks with Ribbit, the drama between them as their friendship collapsed all leading to her abstraction really hit.
But damn, why did Jax have to abstract? I heard some people saying this is supposed to be a cautionary tale and that he was too far gone and wouldn't take the help he needed, but...wouldn't he? He was literally cooperating with the crew during episodes 7 and 8, Pomni was seeing through his coping mechanism, which was breaking once all the the stereotypes Jax had of the crew shattered after he saw Kinger being smart, and in this episode he literally went up to Pomni wanting to open up.
Yeah, it was baby steps, but it clearly felt like they were building towards him opening up to others and becoming a better person, but instead of building upon that, we have the crew let him wander off EVEN THOUGH ZOOBLE, WHO PROBABLY HATES JAX THE MOST, LITERALLY SAID THEY WOULDN'T, and then we have a hard cutoff to him already abstracted with everyone looking down at him with the most anticlimatic reaction possible.
But not all hope is lost, because after that Pomni gets to talk with Jax, sees all the flashbacks, and then they share one really emotional hug with him finally opening up, straight up saying he doesn't want to go...but then Zooble pulls Pomni out and Jax remains abstracted anyway 🤡
Genuinely feel like they threw all of his development in the trash, and if him being a lost cause was always the intention, THEN ACTUALLY COMMIT TO THAT AND DON'T BUILD TOWARDS THE OTHER ROUTE.
And also, why do they act like Pomni saying Ragatha is her best friend was such a big, emotional deal, even though they didn't really interact that much throught the show, with their most crucial conversation in episode 5, which would also be the climax of Ragatha's character arc, happening off screen.
Overall, I don't think it's that big pile of dogshit some people say it is, but I also wouldn't say i'm not disapointed.
So, I finally finished watching the Chucky movies minus the reboot. Here's my ranking of them.
Just rewatched Child's Play 1 after a few years, so here's my quick thoughts on it.
Great film despite its flaws. I especially liked the tension, having Chucky be more subtle was a really nice move, leading to some amazing sequences like that one that ended with him killing the babysitter, or Karen slowly realizing Andy wasn't lying about Chucky being alive.
However, the premise of the film ends up fucking up said tension sometimes, as in that same scene of Karen, the moment Chucky comes to life I just started laughing, it looks so funny seeing that stupid doll trying to bite her, and even funnier was that whole sequence of him trying to kill Mike in the car, in which I was just cackling uncontrollably.
And some of the flaws in the practical effects also contribute to ruining the tension in said scenes, but I won't judge it too hard on that, especially since this is an old movie that was very impressive at the time, and there are moments where it does looks pretty good. He looked pretty sick when he was burned.
I also really like that detail of him getting slowly more human throught the film, and that is seen with the doll changing throught the film, like having his hair getting shorter and closer to Charlies'. Shame that wasn't kept as much in Child's Play 2, and wasn't present at all in Child's Play 3.
I haven't seen the others besides the trilogy, so I intend to rewatch the trilogy and also watch the ones I haven't seen (Bride, Seed, Curse and Cult), except for the TV show, which I'm not very interested in.
Adoro botar os monstros do Slendytubbies pra lutar no modo sandbox.
O time dos pequenos surpreendentemente ganhou.
