Hoping it's not too late

Final update: there are really great people keeping watch on this sub, you saved our butts! (Doggo and myself) We're paid up and still have a roof thanks to you💜

Update: I sent what I received so far to the office. The manager said my balance is $106 (I guess they hit me with another late fee already). Really, anything will help! If there was a down-on-my-knees-begging emoji it'd be right here.🥺🙏🏼😩

Good morning!

I'm living in an extended stay hotel here and things had been going smoothly. I got a call from my bank on Friday telling me there was suspicious activity (it looks like someone tried to login to my account, thankfully they couldn't!), so they froze my account until I could verify that I'm me. They just need pictures of a valid ID, unfortunately mine expired last month so it isn't "valid". I went online and submitted pictures of it anyway, the representative said with that and a couple of security questions I might pass. Apparently that representative was misinformed because when I called to do the questions I was told that's not the procedure... I've been told that 3 times now.

Going off of the information I received first, I informed the office that I would be able to catch up my rent this morning. Although it was unintentional, I lied to them so they're not going to be happy today. My neighbor is going to take me to get a new ID when they get off work this afternoon, but with today I'm 3 days unpaid so they're going to set me out. So, I've got it solved going forward but I'm desperate for help to maintain. Once they kick me out I won't be able to come back, then me and my dog are on the street. And it's summer thunderstorming here to boot. As of yesterday I owed $122 and some change, then today is $57 (there are late fees on my past due days). I can probably get away with paying for today tomorrow after I get my account fixed. If anyone can please help with my past due I would be eternally grateful. I probably should have asked earlier but I was hoping I wouldn't need to ask at all.

If it's allowed I can just give you my hotel information and they can be paid directly. If not I've got Venmo and PayPal, and I can get an invoice from the office at 10 Eastern time if it goes that route. I don't have any family to ask for help and any assistance from my county wouldn't come in time. I was hoping I wouldn't have to beg for help again but this problem isn't something I could have planned for. Thank you so much for reading all that, I'm sorry it's so erratic

Thanks for the tips!

I posted a few weeks ago asking how to attach heads so they don't flop over. I watched the video and actually took the advice, and look!! He doesn't look like his neck is broken 😻

Honestly, I still had a little trouble with it, but it wasn't beyond repair. A couple times online I saw people recommending putting a rod through the neck to hold the head up straight. Not necessarily a metal rod, but a crocheted long, thin cylinder inserted into the body and the head before sewing them together.

Is that common practice? Does anyone out there do that? I want to learn how to do it the correct way, but that sounds like a very convenient short cut!!

New fineliners!

Thank you, so incredibly much, u/leannrose731!!

Coincidentally, I just got a new coloring book to test these guys out on! The search for perfect fineliners continues....

Must be a coincidence...

A free delivery promo took $4.49 off my order, in addition to $1.40 from UberOne for a whopping $5.89 discount. Surely the "service fee" would have been $5.90 without those "discounts"... Right? I would be incredulous right now, if it weren't for that penny difference.

It's obviously just a coincidence.

Looking for tips

Hey!! I've been getting into making stuffed animals lately and I've taken to it pretty well. The only issue I'm really having is attaching the parts. I've never been very good at sewing, I'm very utilitarian about it- I get the 2 parts joined but there's no rhythm or beauty to it.

I've made a couple of bears, and it all looks great until I sew the head on, then their heads usually flop around, or sit crooked. Can anyone recommend a website or good tutorials? If they really detail where stitches should go, where to sew to make sure things stay put.... Or maybe something about the way to stuff and amount of stuffing? I'm making a sloth for my sister and I really don't want him to look like his neck is broken!

Request

I tried posting on Random Acts of Taco Bell but I guess I can't anymore (A few weeks ago I was turning stuff off and on in my profile, to see what it did bc I never had before. Since I messed with "curation" I'm not allowed to request anymore. Even though it was only turned on for maybe 30 seconds. Idk, "rules are rules" I guess). I'm just copy/pasting my original plea.... But now it doesn't necessarily have to be Taco Bell!

I got our rent caught up (yay!) unfortunately to the detriment of our food money. I missed a day in the budget and thought we were gonna squeak by. I've got a ride to the food pantry on Monday, so I was wondering/hoping someone might help us out today? I'm in Kentucky and in a wheelchair so, adding to the pile, we'd have to get it delivered 🫩. It's just me and a teenager so we wouldn't be getting a ton of food.

If anyone can help with an order, or gift card or something that'd be amazing. Taco Bell offers a veritable feast for a vegetarian and a hungry teen. Thank you and good day.

Edit: I marked this expired because there isn't a "withdraw" tag. It was suggested that I post here, which is why I did. Well, that and to seek help for some food (obviously). I'm not a greedy person, just having trouble getting my sh*t together. Have a good one.

Can I add a border to my blanket if it wasn't planned for from the start?

I've been working on my first blanket for over a month. It's not really complicated or "beautiful", but it's my first one so I want it to last as long as possible. It's just "drunken granny" stitches, the rows end with 1 double crochet and start with 3 chains. The edges seem a little weak, like it will get snagged and pulled out easily. I'm thinking adding a border could reinforce it, with the added bonus of making it prettier.

I don't know anything about finishing crochet pieces. The first hat I made I didn't even add a rim to it until after someone who knows what they're doing asked me why I was wearing a hat that wasn't finished yet lol. Do I have to plan from the start to add a border? (So start and end every row with single crochet stitches, for example). I've included a picture of the edge, and one a little closer. I don't even know if there's a place to crochet a border onto.

Honestly, any ideas, advice, or suggestions are welcome. Is this what the edge of crochet blankets are supposed to look like? I'm 1.5 cakes of Lion Mandala Bonus Bundle into this thing so it's too late to change my mind.

Looking for scrap

I bought 2 of the Lion Mandala Bonus Bundle cakes to make my first blanket. I love the colorway (Chimera), until I started this blanket my opinion was that variegated yarn is always better.

There are a couple places where I've missed stitches 🫩 Fortunately, with the pattern I chose the mistakes can be camouflaged by tying it together with a small string. That will only work if the color of the bandaid is the same as the surrounding part.

I don't need an entire skein (but I'll take it!). If you even have scraps or leftovers I will probably be able to use them.

Please help me out of this Rube Goldbergesque situation

Over the span of 18 months I was pummeled with tragedy and misfortune, concluding only after I lost everything and moved into a hotel. When I moved in here they didn't have an open handicap-accessible room (I'm in a wheelchair) so I got a regular one. I was in that room for a while until I finally got tired of having to crawl into the bathroom and finally moved into an accessible room.

When they moved me into the new room, they made me check out and check back in. I assumed I could just transfer to my new room but that's not how they do things here. The rate has gone up since I initially checked in and they can't check me in at the rate I'm prepared to pay. I'm $46.34 short of my full payment and I don't have money coming in any time soon.

I am begging for $47 please, to keep a roof over my head. I have Venmo and Chime. I might have PayPal too. At this point I'm not even unpacking my stuff because they could kick me out in the morning. Knowing that, I know that I won't be sleeping tonight from sheer terror. Please help me, I feel like I'm drowning.

That often-mentioned 2nd Facebook payment....

In November or December I got approximately $33 from the Facebook settlement. I'm seeing all the posts about 2nd payments trickling in and I'm curious: Did those of you getting the $5-8 deposits have a first deposit similar to mine?

Like the money in my bank account and cigarettes in my pack, my patience is also dwindling.
