Anyone else struggle with messaging people?

So I'm married and have a kid. Been focusing on being a good dad and can't bare to take time away from family to act out. Escorts have been cut out for over a year now, but the financial damage from years of it lingers (that's another story).

I realize I still get stuck in the habit of reaching out to women in my life, with what I think are "harmless" messages or check ins. I would never send anything really sexually forward but people must wonder why I'm messaging anyway.

Of course, they likely read through the messages to the intention behind it and there I am, left on read and sometimes feeling like they are sketched out by me next time they see me in person.

A recent example of this really drove it home. In the grip of addiction, it seems like there is nothing wrong. But people will make their own assumptions (which can be correct) and talk about you behind your back, and judge you and then want to keep their distance.

I feel like that feeling of being rejected, being viewed as a creep, just always brings me back to the insecurity and rejection that fuels my addiction in the first place. My CSAT has identified FOMO and insecurity as main causes of it, where I seek validation via sex. I want to break that cycle and just focus on my wife, kid and career.

Can anyone else relate?

Thoughts on Thomas Crown Affair (2027)?

Was wondering what everyone thinks of the box office potential for Michael B. Jordan's Thomas Crown Affair.

I'm curious to see how much star power MBJ has without Coogler and without a big franchise.

He seems like the only big star (in terms of box office draw) in the film and it is a remake, but I wouldn't say it's a huge franchise.

Also not sure what the budget is. Hopefully under $100M, I feel like maybe $80M or less?

March seems like a good release time, away from the kiss of death of January and the packed slate of summer. I think it could pull $200M if reviews are good and give it some legs. Nothing crazy but get MBJ some more cred as a box-office draw. Thoughts?

Narc wife can't tolerate me getting one room to decorate.

So my wife definitely has some narc tendencies when it comes to needing to be the centre of attention. One specific aspect of her narc tendencies is the need for control when it comes to decorations and furniture. I said, hypothetically, if we upsize at one point and I get my own office space, I want to decorate it my way. I get full control.

She said "that's unfair" and can't grasp why I would want that.

"I wouldn't want that." Of course not, you weigh in on the stuff all over the other 90% of the house.

It's baffling. At times like this I wonder why I was able to be attracted to someone like her. Why so insecure? Why so unreasonable?

Dads of older kids (5+), any of y'all find you didn't enjoy baby/toddlerhood as much?

Hey y'all. I've posted before about the "magical" newborn phase just being more fatigue and stress for me. People love making negative assumptions on here so I want to preface by saying I get involved as much as possible. Daycare hunting, sleep training e.g. I camped out on the lazyboy with little guy last night before work today so wifey could sleep a bit. Sleep regressions are rough, but anyways...

Some dads here said they felt like they enjoyed things more when the kids got older. Anyone else relate to that?

How did y'all wean your baby off contact naps?

Hi y'all,

So our 6-month-old tends to nap through the day only if he contact naps. We've had a max of about 20 minutes in crib vs 40+ sometimes with contact napping.

As the baby gets heavier, wife has a harder time rocking him the way he likes. When I'm not home he doesn't nap well and then his night sleeping can be brutal. Wife is on mat leave and is also around the baby more so she also just wants to be nap trapped less.

So now we want to wean him off contact naps. We're going to put him in the crib with darkness and the white noise machine (like our nighttime routine) and see how he does. Figure if we keep trying we can get longer stretches.

Anyone else have suggestions?

Workout plan

Hi y'all. I'm 6'4, 225, 35 years old and looking to get a bit leaner.

I have a 6-month old so life's been hectic. I have restarted a home workout I used to do hoping to drop 15 pounds.

I cut eating cereal and focus more on a breakfast of 3 eggs with veggies, with fruit sometimes. I used to do that and cereal, so now saving some easy calories. I don't drink often (4x since the kid) and walk about 15K a week. Sleep isn't the best with the baby (compared to before the baby), usually 6 hours a night, and that might be interrupted if wifey needs help overnight.

What is a reasonable timeline with this workout?

50 jumping jacks

40 squats

30 pushups

20 buttups

10 burpees

10 pullups (no pullup bar for me so I skip this one).

X3

I'm just starting off so I do whatever I can before failure. Right now, I am building up to wrapping a set.

6'4 225M, 35. Want to get a bit leaner.

Hey y'all. 6-month old at home. Been off the gym for a while. Haven't hit it 3x a week in over 8 months.

I walk about 15K a week. The 10K steps a day benchmark isn't for me right now. I get closer to 7K on the average day.

I like Sterling K Brown's pyramid workout for quick bang for buck and started doing that until failure this week. Aiming to do whatever I can with it 3-4x a week

  1. 50 Jumping Jacks
  2. 40 Squats
  3. 30 Pushups
  4. 20 Butt Ups
  5. 10 Burpees
  6. 10 Pull-ups (I don't have a pull up bar so can't do this last step atm)

Also cut my breakfast down. Used to do 3 eggs with veggies and then cereal. Cut the cereal now. Maybe just have it with some fruit, like an apple or a banana and PB.

I don't have that much processed stuff but am also not a religious calorie counter. I don't drink much anymore. Just a few times a month, if that. I've had a drink 4x since the baby. Think I could lose 15 pounds in 6 months or so by just adding this movement in? Prior to this I would just do some pushups (would aim for 100 most days) and mobility work throughout the day.
