I serve at the Divine Liturgy, and I noticed that my priest gets crumbs of the Eucharist on the thurible (offering for Saints), and also the pourer used for the hot water. I never payed attention but nothing has really changed in the way these are handed much, besides for that sometimes the other priest would try to get them off his hands with the sponge.

Is this just how it is in Eastern Catholicism since it’s leavened bread?

I know that for mortal sin you have to mention times, and I attempted to, but I never feel like I really got a chance to, so I just let the priest continue, said my Act of Contrition, received absolution, and left,

Is this still a valid confession.

Do you think that my family and I could have this around the house to celebrate the Dormition starting in the icon corner and moving around with the icon of the Dormition and the Cross and incense?

It has other places where it labels what to do and. it do depending on the availability of a priest, but never dictates what to do with a procession, and kind of assumes a procession.

Would you be concerned if you were to order stuff from an Old Calanderist Schismatic Orthodox convent. I get that Orthodox are already separated from us, but I feel like it’s going even deeper to buy from a “True Orthodox” convent.

I used Holy Oil I got from burning before his relics from my recent visit to Holy Cross Monastery. It was a gift I appreciate and I was nervous to use, but I did because I need healing…and clearly it’s VERY holy.

Anways I poured water on my face to wash it off outside, and I got it on my shirt and pants, is there any “protocol” I have to take before washing it (don’t want to “bless [hyperbole]“ the washing machine and dirty landury

Where do you all find those beautiful cloths for your icon corners? I would like some!

There are ones I see that have a flowery or something pattern on the edges with a clear white or whatever color in the middle. I think they are really beautiful and would like some, but o don’t know where is best to look.

For background, I am still technically Latin Rite.

I have lost almost all desire to attend a Latin Rite Mass, the only nourishment I get out of it is some nostalgia

I have basically fully immersed myself in the East, and I know Byzantine Catholicism is where God wants me to be.

But how do you deal with the temptations!

We have

1. Disdain towards the Latin Rite

2. “Orthodoxy is true,” “that [Post-Schism Saint] you venerate has this miracles, Gos works in Orthodoxy

more,” “Deny [Catholic Dogma not found in Orthodoxy],” “You attend that Orthodox Parish, just become a catechumen,” etc

I wanted to share that my Byzantine Priest (technically Latin, attend both), is leaving for the Orthodox Seminary.

My Eastern Catholic parish has icons from Monastery Icons on the iconostasis. I know that they have surely been blessed by all the prayer, incense, and most of all being in the presence of the Divine Liturgy, but I just wanted to share this. I can tl my the style and the “by the hand of Simeon” or something like that.

How would one go about asking their parish priest to bless an icon of St. Seraphim of Sarov and potentially St. Joseph the Hesychast.

Cannoncially Latin but spritiual home is in my locks Ruthenian Byzantine Catholic Church. My priest venerates Orthodox Saints privately, so I know he is comfortable, but since they can’t be venerated public ally in the Ruthenian Catholic Church (at least St. Seraphim of Sarov and St. Joseph the Hesychast)... would asking for a private blessing before Vespers/Liturgy or after, be okay?

I am an altar server at my local Roman Catholic Church. During the Lavabo the priest simply dips his hands in the bowel already filled with water. I heard that the water is supposed to be poured over the priest's hands though. Is this a big enough thing I should ask my priest 'would you like me to start pouring the water over your hands during the Lavabo?' This priest didn't start it, it was like this previously, so I assume it is just the person that sets up for mass (not the priest), that does this.

During home prayer can I prostrate before icons of Christ, the Theotokos, Saints (even Orthodox)?

my friend got me an icon when I helped guide him through vespers. It’s from Holy Protection and not their usual style (its a typical yellow background mountain icon [i think]) and I am making a prayer shed with icons and such and I was wondering if it would hold up well in an outdoor resin shed?

Priest told me to take some Antidoron home, in the car I spilled some crumbs in the crack of the seat. Should I reach through and try to consume.

For starters, I am a 15 year old male.

As a kid up until about the beginning of this year (2026), I was so close to my mom. We did everything together, nothing could seperate us.

Now its summer, and she’s off in summer, and I can’t stand the way she eats it makes me tremor the lip smacking. She talks a lot when I don’t care and it agitates me because she doesn’t stop.

I just want to be a sweet little child that we spend time together and enjoy our presences so much.

Our relationship is growing distant, this isn’t what I want.

I understand that Essence-Energies does not contradict Divine Simplicity, I fully embrace that.

I also understand that the Beatific Vision is a Catholic Dogma in that the faithful in Heaven see the Divine Essence Face-Face, and that it is clear and open and for eternity.

How is this reconciled with St. Gregory Palamas' insistence that we will never see the Divine Essence but only the Energies?
