They take time to make but look a bit better imo at over 20cm tall.
Wire frame built up with hot glue and foil then I stick some medium woodland scenics armatures on the end of the stumpy branches.
I built up the wood texture with hot glue and covered it all with texture paste (filler, pva & sand).
Paint them all once dry.
I add horse hair to the ends of the armatures fixing with gorilla wood glue then spray with the excellent wws tree and bush glue before applying different colours of woodland scenics coarse turf.

Happy how he turned out after deciding to have a go with xps foam and hot glue for the base structure.

Really pleased how this ended up after my initial idea to use xps foam and hot glue.

Thought this might make a nice display stand, a bit too fragile with 5mm xps for my grandkids to play with :)
