Why are American Copts so gullible?

I see Copts reposting the meaningless and hypocritical Trump statement on Global Coptic Day (which he absolutely did not write himself) while the administration is actively attacking asylum-seekers and immigrants, which is the vast majority of Coptic people in the US. Copts who came here on tourist visas and then claimed asylum, YOU ARE THE ONES THEY SAY ARE ABUSING THE SYSTEM. Everyone else who came via the lottery: THEY WANT TO END THAT, TOO. My own cousin-in-law is foolish enough to believe the administration really only wants to target "illegal immigrants." Why do Copts have this blind belief that the Trump administration sees them as anything but brown Middle Eastern immigrants??? Why are people so naive???

My Egyptian husband informs me that yes, even in Egypt, you have to pay for hummus

Egypt is not the land of free hummus.

ETA: this is a food court restaurant, so there's no table for "for the table."

A fun AIO from the past

I just found out that my mom and her first cousin both gave their two daughters the same two names. As in, my sister and I have the same exact names as my mom's cousin's daughters. And btw they're not family names where there'd be a reason they used the same names!! It's cracking me up that no one in their family seems to have ever questioned this or had an issue with it whereas if this happened today I know it'd show up in AIO and Reddit would lose its mind.

Not sure if this belongs here

Not sure if this belongs here, but here we go. I recently came across a post from a parent asking how to help a child stop "saving"/hoarding toys? The young child was "saving" toys and refusing to play with them for fear of damaging them. When I read that it was like being kicked in the face and I suddenly remembered how much stuff *I* hoarded/saved when I was a kid/through young teen. I had all these stickers and temporary tattoos that I was scared to actually use for fear I'd want them in the future and not have them. I hoarded like 3 years worth of holiday candy without eating it so I could "have some later." My dad ended up throwing it all away when my family moved overseas when I was 16. I did end up living in a hoarding house a few years ago and thankfully I was able to just move out and leave it all behind. I was in therapy for other stuff for about 10 years but stopped going regularly because I kept having to change therapists and it just got overwhelming (just unlucky, I was not therapist shopping: one therapist sexually harassed me, the next one started going through a divorce and needed time off, next one started having health issues and had to take time off, and the last one ended up moving out of state). I'm now pregnant and know I'm at increased risk for post-partum depression. Should I go ahead and try to get back into therapy now, or wait and see? Ftr I do have diagnoses of OCD and bipolar II, but my symptoms are being well controlled by medication.

Vegan pregnancy-safe cold remedies?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some tips about how to fight a cold while pregnant and fasting. Because I'm pregnant, I can't take any meds like Dayquil/NyQuil and I also can't drink hibiscus or eat honey because they're not safe for pregnancy. However, we also just started the Apostles Fast so I can't do my usual chicken broth or bone broth. Thanks in advance for any advice!

ETA I reached out to my FoC and he said there's no reason I should stop fasting if it's just a cold.

Vegan pregnancy-safe cold remedies?

Hi all! I'm 23 weeks and my husband gave me a cold he brought home from work 😭 It's not terrible yet, just sore throat and headache, but I'm really wanting to squash it. Obviously I can't take Dayquil or any number of cold medicines, and unfortunately a bunch of my usual non-pharm methods are off the table. I usually drink hibiscus, but it's not safe for pregnancy. I usually drink chicken broth or bone broth, but we're Coptic Orthodox and we just started the Apostles Fast today and can't eat any animal products. (The fast is going to last for 40 days in case you're curious.) Any advice appreciated!!

ETA: Clearly I've triggered some bigots in here as I'm being downvoted for *checks notes* being Coptic Orthodox? Really didn't expect that and that's super sad.

Affordable wheelchair accessible venue for baby shower?

Title pretty much sums it up! Doesn't want anything fancy, I'd be happy to have my shower at my house BUT like most houses in Nashville, I have 3/4 steps up to my porch and I want to be able to invite my friend who's in a wheelchair. It'll be in July, thus my reluctance to use a park shelter due to heat. Thanks!

FOUND Tabby cat The Nations/Sylvan Park

This extremely friendly and sweet tabby cat has been coming by our house every day at 5 pm to get fed, it's either a neutered male or a female and it's clearly been outside for a while (very skinny, greasy fur) but CLEARLY not feral. I've posted all over Facebook trying to find the owner with no success.
