I feel like a lot of people here overestimate how much knowledge cis ppl have about trans ppl and the allyship of the average person. Many otherwise liberal ppl have told me to my face they don’t want others who look like me near their bathrooms, or teaching in schools, or playing sports. These positions are tolerated in trans spaces but usually outright celebrated in cis spaces.

There is so much placating of transphobia by assuming there is an educated, rational basis someone builds these stances, when it’s very commonly just what they’ve heard other ppl say.

Not to say “all cis ppl are evil and transphobic grrrrrr”, but more that being anti-trans isn’t treated as seriously bad thing by many people on any political side off of the internet. We need to be more diligent in educating those with ignorant positions, don’t be so quick to assume there aren’t people who just will hate you for being queer because of how they were socialized.
