Short post, but I want to share that my appetite is so much more regulated when I’ve slept well.
Common knowledge, I know. But I otherwise struggle with eating past fullness/binging. But I almost never experience these urges or take notice of my appetite at all when i’ve slept well.
More bird media for y’all to GAF about! (Videos)
More Animal Kingdom + bonus Ethel Cain background music. Unfortunately quality isn’t translating well, but trust these birds were wonderful.
Species: Cotton Teal Duck, Nicobar Pigeon, Northern Mockingbird
I might be homeless again soon, and I’m so afraid.
I don’t know why i’m posting this, to be honest. I think I just want someone I can trust to be rational and “adult” about this situation to offer me some insight.
I’ll keep this brief, both because the details are convoluted and because I’d like to remain anonymous.
I’m a college student, and if all goes according to plan, I’ll be moving into on-campus housing when the fall semester begins in mid-August. During the summer, however, I stay with my surviving parent.
My parent has struggled with alcoholism for nearly their entire life. My sibling, my other parent (who passed away when I was in middle school), and I have all lived with the consequences of that addiction.
After my other parent died, things deteriorated further. Two weeks before I graduated high school, my surviving parent informed my sibling and me that we had two weeks to pack up our entire childhood home because they hadn’t made a mortgage payment in nearly four years. They had the money— they simply hadn’t paid it. We managed to delay the move by another two weeks. My sibling moved in with extended family, my parent stayed in a hotel, and I remained alone in our empty house until we finally had to leave.
For the past four years, my sibling has lived with relatives while I’ve stayed with my parent during extended school breaks at a month-to-month rental.
Recently, my parent was laid off from the job they’d held for nearly 25 years. Since then, they’ve made no meaningful effort to find work, secure housing, or seek help from friends or family. Instead, they’re drinking, withdrawing, and seemingly waiting for me to rescue them— just as they did before.
I work a minimum-wage job and have modest savings, but nowhere near enough to establish long-term independence. I’m preparing for a large yard sale at the beginning of August to reduce what I own and hopefully earn some extra money. Once the fall semester begins, I’ll at least have stable housing. With any luck, by next summer I’ll have graduated and be in a position to support myself.
I have a plan. I’m just afraid. I’ve been here before and it’s such a nightmare. Further, it’s a nightmare that has EVERY possibility of becoming worse. I’m just so afraid.
Need Some Advice — Connecting to Perfumes out of My Comfort Zone
For about 10 months I’ve searched for a perfume out of my comfort zone that I feel connected to. Almost all in my current collection are:
deep, hearty, warm, sexy gourmands
with notes like: bourbon/caviar vanilla, amber, white and purple florals, patchouli, musk, citruses and ginger.
Anytime I fall in love with a fragrance out in the wild, I always come to realize its profile generally falls within this range.
I love all my fragrances, but as I get a little older and begin entering the workforce at a more professional level, I realize it’s becoming less and less appropriate for me to try and wear these kinds of fragrances on the daily. My signature is and always will be Givenchy L'interdit Intense, but I want something to balance it out on off days. Currently, I’ve almost finished my bottle of Replica Bubble Bath as this balancing act, but it’s leaving something to be wanted… i’m just not sure what?
I’ve been searching now for quite some time, and have come across *plenty* of perfumes that I really like, but none that “sing” to me. I’m trying to lean brighter, more classically feminine, but still well formulated and bold. So many beautiful scents of this nature tend to evaporate on me or conjure an imagine of meekness, both of which are dealbreakers in my book. To say that I’m looking for something more “mature” would taste a bit of a lie — i’m still a young woman and feel connected to those profiles — fun, playful, appealing. But maybe just something a little more grounded.
Idk, everything is great but nothing is good *enough*… am I just being apprehensive? Is there a better way to navigate this confusion? Has anyone else experienced this?
Just need some advice or insight, thank you in advance. 🤍
I know it’s been asked a million times before, but What are your coping strategies for the dayS after a binge cycle?
TLDR: How do I cope with the several days of heightened EVERYTHING (shame, cravings, body awareness, etc.) when exiting a binge cycle?
About a month ago something stressful happened in my life. Usually, i’m good at rolling with the punches. But this, along with many other very stressful daily events, led to a breakdown of my system. For the first time in a while, I fell back into old habits.
It’s been about a month of succumbing to binges and it’s taken a big toll on me. My body aches and doesn’t feel like mine, my daily structure is disrupted, my self esteem is trashed, my life just doesn’t feel like to belongs to me again. I’m struggling to reclaim it.
A huge part of this is coping with the physical sensations in the several days following a binge. Not just the morning after, but the several days of access water weight, brain fog, and heightened cravings.
I’m feeling very lost and hopeless right now. I was living the life i’ve wanted for myself for so long: MY life. I feel enslaved to food reward again. My question is:
How do I cope with the several days of heightened EVERYTHING (shame, cravings, body awareness, etc.) when exiting a binge cycle?
Title. Ik there’s areas across campus that are always spotty and the wifi is baseline not always the best, but jesus recently nothing seems to be working for me.
me issue? anyone else?
Extreme projection, lingers in the air for minutes after she passes by: fruity, sweet, sugary, slightly warm undertone.
I smell it EVERYWHERE but cannot, for the life of me, pin it. I’m on a college campus in south USA and every pretty hot girl is wearing it, but i have no idea what it is.
Normally, i’d approach and ask, but i always smell it as im walking into a space they long departed. It’s like im chasing mystical creature lol. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Edit: i’d like to seriously note how strong this perfume is. i’m disinclined to believe it’s a body mist of any sort because it genuinely fills stairwells, hallways, and lobbies for extended periods of time after these girls walk through. it’ll even linger underneath outdoor patios if they’re covered or don’t get too much wind
Title. Recommendations for quiet/calm/lowkey restaurants or cafes in eastern pasadena or deer park.
Anything goes, not looking for super pricy or extravagant. Just somewhere I can have a good chat.
Thank you 🤍
