CEFPODOXIME?

I was recently prescribed cefpodoxime 200mg for 10 days for my UTI because I took one dose of nitrofurantoin and stopped taking it after one dose due to severely feeling unwell on it. I recently got my lab test results for my urine and it says I have small amounts of E. coli in my bladder. I am not sure if cefpodoxime 200mg for 10 days is the right medication for me considering my UTI is mild, I don’t have UTI symptoms, and my doctor prescribed it based on me saying I tested positive for UTI with a at home test strip. I would also like to add that I have emetophobia and don’t want to start the antibiotics due to side effects. Again, I believe I have asymptomatic bacteriuria due to having UTI without the symptoms, so do you think taking the antibiotics is the right move? Has anyone taken this antibiotic without complications?

need help!

doctor first prescribed me nitrofurantoin before for uti and after first dose, felt very ill and asked for a switch in antibiotics… voiced my concerns on side effects such as numbness in my face, nausea, loss of appetite, headache, etc.. however, right after he gave me ciprofloxacin & i heard this medication is even worse especially since i don’t have pain when peeing and was told it’s only a mild uti… also used a at-home uti test strip twice and was negative.

Anyone Switch from Nitrofurantoin to Cephalexin Due to Side Effects?

I took my first dose of nitrofurantoin yesterday and experienced several unpleasant side effects, including nausea, dizziness, lightheadedness, a racing heart, loss of appetite, fatigue, and a severe headache.
I spoke with my pharmacist today, and they said they would contact my doctor to discuss an alternative antibiotic. In the meantime, they advised me to stop taking the nitrofurantoin and wait until tomorrow when my doctor's office reopens.
Has anyone had a similar reaction to nitrofurantoin and switched to Cephalexin or another antibiotic? If so, did you tolerate it better, and were the side effects less severe? I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences.

I took one dose of nitrofurantoin and feel awful—should I keep taking it?

I have taken one 100 mg dose of nitrofurantoin and am considering stopping the medication because I experienced severe stomach cramps and nausea afterward. I took the dose with a banana, but I have not taken my second dose because I have been feeling unwell. I wanted to contact my doctor for guidance today, but their office is closed on Sundays. Could you please advise me on what I should do?

Took my first nitrofurantoin pill today and can barely function

I took my first dose of nitrofurantoin 100 mg this afternoon around 1:50 PM, and it's currently 10:30 PM. I still feel really out of it.
A few hours after taking it, I started getting a headache that felt more like pressure in my head. I also got extremely tired and ended up taking a small nap, but when I woke up, the headache was still there. Other side effects I've noticed are nausea and a complete loss of appetite.
Overall, I just feel very off and weak. I can't even walk comfortably because I feel so strange and unsteady.
Has anyone else taken nitrofurantoin and experienced these kinds of side effects after the first dose? Did they improve after a few days, or did you end up contacting your doctor about it?

Pad Rash Turned Into INSANE Itching + Leg NERVE itch??

I recently had a bad rash on my vagina due to chafing from my pad during my period and it's been bothersome. I would scratch it a lot at night and my labia would swell and be hard. Last night, I scratched it really hard and I noticed a nerve itch on my right leg and it got really bothersome to the point I had to call my boyfriend to drive over to massage the leg which didn't really help with the itch. I had trouble sleeping at night and it's causing me to feel irritated and grouchy. I'm just wondering if anyone else has gone through this. Also, I have a mild UTI I have not treated with antibiotics because I am scared to take it due to side effects. Please help.
