You may be evicted and have no power but can't stop tithing!

This is literally the advice given by Delony (who is even worse at financial advice than therapy) to some poor woman struggling to pay her bills and mentioned she wanted to pause tithing one month so she could pay her rent. The amazing John Delony said that would be going against her "values" and should rather find other ways to get more money. This is where they are in the cult people. You can be homeless but god (and Ramsey) still need your money. Now I will wait for his saviour and protector to come tell me why I am wrong about this.

I finally listened to the JD show

So until now, I had only heard Delony on the Ramsey show. I finally listened to his actual podcast and oh my god. Between cringing at the poor self deprecating jokes and shaking my head at the painfully awful advice I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Woman has affair, doesn't show an ounce of remorse, says husband hits an actual punching bag and Delony goes into "are you safe mode". Then we learn that she knows her husband's first wife cheated on him, his mother cheated on his father and yet Delony can't bring himself to tell her bluntly that she should let him go find a better human to be with. The level of simping is beyond ridiculous. In other calls (woman's husband is alcoholic) he basically says, well you can't change anything so change the locks or move out. Wow, super helpful. Plus using half the call to talk about his "best buddy" who had exactly the same issue or his own wife and marriage rather than focussing on the caller is pretty jarring as well. Then there are the Jesus freaks who can't practice what they preach (Pastor living in Sin, Born again marrying a divorced woman etc) where he ALMOST gets close to the truth that their belief systems are doing harm but can't quite say it because you know, Dave wouldn't like that. Im sure Delony Defender will come back with some long and detailed rebuttal and Im not blocking because I dont believe in censorship.

[Zenith] Got this new Zenith Sport Chronograph

Ive had my eye on Zenith as a brand for a while but hadn't pulled the plug. Then my local grey market dealer had this brand new July 2026 El Primero Sport Chrono at a price that was hard to pass up (45% off retail list price). . The one tenth second accuracy and 10 second rotation is pretty cool as well as the sapphire case back are things even the Daytona doesn't offer. The movement is all in house and historically significant as the first ever automatic chronograph.

Borrower is Slave to the Lender

How many times has Dave said that? He even has full on rants about it. But what about employees? Aren't they even more like slaves? My bank doesn't tell me where I need to be at what time. It doesn't tell me how many days of vacation I can take. Dave tells his employees who they can sleep with, who they can have kids with and what church they must attend or what debit card they must keep. He is a true slave master more than any lender or bank can be.

Today I decided to give up on the Ramsey show

More and more it's about Dave's rants against socialism and climate change and Fauci and how Murica is the greatest country that has ever existed. Im sick of the MAGA shit spewing from him. Not to mention the Evangelical BS, bible quotes, and fake generosity. I don't want to support him by adding to his views or streams. It was fun entertainment for a while but now it's just toxic sludge.

Which GS movement?

Im going to Japan and looking into getting a GS. Particularly an Elegance GMT. They come in normal automatic, hi beat and spring drive. Im vacillating on the type of movement for me. On one hand I like classic automatic watches (I own a PP, Cartier, GP and Seiko Prospex) but Spring Drive is unique to GS. However Spring Drive is a bit larger and I prefer sub 40 mm. Suggestions?

Jade and George tell 94 year old to put money into the stock market

This is what happens when you have created a cult rather than education. Parrots repeating advice without understanding anything about the nuances. Callers has 94 year old mom with 500K going into a nursing home costing $50K per year. They are selling her house and asking what to do with the 150K proceeds. Jade suggests "good growth stock mutual funds". George, trying to show some sense, suggests putting a fraction into the market and remaining in cash. For a 94 year old! Even Dave's BS advice says if you need the money in 5 years keep it out of the market. How long do these idiots think this woman is going to live? In a nursing home? Fucking morons giving dangerous advice.

Delony is generous-with callers money!

Caller has won the lottery. Getting 275K after taxes. Has plans to buy a 250K home. Delony's advice is to buy the house in cash and donate the 25K because that's "what he would do". At least he didn't tell about the time where he or his ride or die buddy won the lottery and did something like that. Interestingly, no mention of how stupid it is to play the lottery in the first place and how it's effectively just a regressive tax on the poor.

[Opinion] Rolex is a meme

It may be unpopular to say but to me Rolex just looks like a meme stock or meme coin. It's not inherently rare or particularly special, it is hyped heavily and every John and Jane Doe want one. From ghetto thugs to middle managers having a Rolex is a flex more than anything else. People buying them on credit and as "investments" just waiting for the greater fool to buy it. What happens when that bubble bursts and secondary market dries up? What happens to the hundreds of thousands of used Rolex's sitting at dealer and jewellers around the world? Ok Rolex lovers, flame away!

[SOTC] An unintended collection

Im not a collector, so this set of watches just kind of happened.

  1. Tag Heuer Link Chronograph Quartz: Got this as my first "real" watch in around 2007. Recently got a full overhaul and polish
  2. Seiko Prospex Diver Automatic: Picked up impulsively at Duty Free in Dubai. My daily beater.
  3. Cartier Santos de Cartier Automatic Large: Bought this year as part of a his/hers pair with my wife for milestone birthdays
  4. Vintage Patek Philippe Calatrava ca. 1990s from my dad. Family heirloom.Recently got full overhaul but no polish as its 18K gold.

Now Im getting a bit of the watch bug and considering a Zenith or Grand Seiko.

[Restoration] Family Heirloom Calatrava

Just had a full service done on this family heirloom PP 18K gold Calatrava 3802. It had been sitting in a safe for over 25 years I think. I have had it myself for about 15 years but never really did much with it. Recently gotten interested in watches again so brought it back to life.
