Newest leaves yellowing
Western NC Appalachians, 4000 ft. altitude
We bought them in Sept. 2024 a week before Helene hit our area, so with many trees down and basement flooded it was early April, 2025 before we got them planted. Last winter a deer chewed smaller one off 6 inches from ground and to our surprise it came back well this spring. Watered during early summer drought but last two weeks have gotten over 4 inches rain. They both have grown a lot this year but just noticed newest leaves on largest one yellowing. We've never fertilized them. They get 4-6 hours sun/dappled sun.
Any suggestions welcome!
So I'm birdwatching ..
On my front porch this morning, finish looking at some bluebirds with my binoculars, put them down and two feet away is a yearling.
