Didn't get a single random encounter in the Desert Palace

Playing on PS5. Safe travel was off, but I've been using it occasionally throughout the game. Tried turning it on and off, but still no encounters. Only after saving and resetting the game did the battles come back. What happened? Has anybody else experienced this?

I keep hearing people saying Pixar sucks now and I couldn't disagree more.

Sure, they're not putting out as many masterpieces as they used to, and there's been a few misses along the way, but I still find most of their movies highly enjoyable. I just watched Hoppers a few days ago and it was a lot of fun. I also really enjoyed Elemental and Inside Out 2, and I think Onward is seriously overlooked. I'd say the best of their 2020s output is Luca. Absolutely wonderful movie that I've been watching every summer since. What do you think?
